But if they get sued they won’t be able to afford all those dummies they like throwing out of their prams.

They've made their point. Suing the council is stupid and likely to cost the taxpayer money that could be better spent on other things.

They've been excluded from council meetings. They'll only have made their point when Bristol councillors stop treating gender critical views as a hate crime.

Lovelyview · 05/12/2025 14:54

On Twitter Women of Wessex have said they're responsible for the letter before action which restored sanity to the Girl Guides as well. Excellent work!

The councillors are wasting public money by acting in an unlawful manner

no - you could make that argument about every GC court case "they've made their point". Women have "made their point" and then bring sacked or harassed for it

BCC are accountable to their electorate. No one was being abusive or hateful to them, they were merely stating facts and asking how BCC were going to ensure they complied with the law

They walked out of the chamber. Quantify the waste

I am part of the Bristol electorate and I want my council tax paying for tangible improvements, not legal fees

Maybe you should send an email to your councillor and tell them as much, it's their illegal actions that are going to cost you, not the women who are standing up for their democratic right to be heard.

You'd better vote for some competent councillors next time. In the meantime write to them and tell them to obey the law.

sorry you're saddled with such incompetent fuckwits as councillors

Sausagenbacon · 05/12/2025 15:39

I'm a Bristol rate payer and I'd like to see them punished for behaving like children.
FAFO as they say. BCC know that they are breaking the law.

The waste of time and money that putting things right will take

Half of those taxpayers are women, on what "better things" do you suggest that money be spent on than the rights of women & girls & safeguarding?

If they don't comply with the law, it's likely that this won't be the only time they are sued.

Adult social care, education, roads, libraries, DV support

Adult social care, education, roads, libraries, DV support

The SC judgement is relevant to adult social care, education, and DV support. The impact on libraries and roads is possibly less direct, but it certainly affects the employee right of anyone working in these departments.

It’s just not important in the grand scheme of things though is it?

You cannot excuse or justify such irrespensible and anti democrativc behaviour. These councillors will each be in receipt of a stipend of about £12k a year each, at the bare minimum ( without other duties and responsibilities).

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 05/12/2025 16:08

I hope this is picked up by mainstream media like the BBC. The Green's barmy ideology needs to be exposed

If you want any of the services you list to function, it's very important.

But our rights are under threat from the far right.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 05/12/2025 16:10

I'm getting my bingo card out in preparation

Sausagenbacon · 05/12/2025 16:11

The important thing is that BCC have known they were breaking the law for some time.
Do we want this? A council that pursues this, and punishes those who point it out.
