This is superb news (esp. as a Bristolian!)
That any public servant should act in such an immature fashion should be dealt with automatically - it is outrageous that councillors whose very job is to serve the people of the area should act like toddlers - if they don't wish to listen to their constituents they should resign.

AstonsGerbil · 05/12/2025 09:36

Well done those wims hope they get a victory! The picture that accompanied the councillors was extremely telling.

mardirousse · 05/12/2025 09:38

Good to read.
Especially as it is now reported in The Times that "Bristol city council has banned two gender-critical women from stepping foot in City Hall after they asked Green Party councillors if the Supreme Court judgment on trans identity was “offensive or transphobic”.

This is shocking!

I'm glad these women are suing!

Edited to add that it's completely ridiculous that they have to!

OverlyFragrant · 05/12/2025 09:44

I'd be so embarrassed to be a green party member

Hoardasurass · 05/12/2025 09:57

Him this quote from the greens in the Times article show that the green councillors dont understand their legal duty as elected representatives in this country.
These councillors are leaving themselves open to potential criminal charges of misconduct in public office and statement like below and their ongoing behaviour is making conviction a certainty

Very pleased to see this. They're elected representatives. If they're not doing their jobs, they should be held to account.

APinkAndSpottyGiraffey · 05/12/2025 10:05

Excellent. I’m in North Somerset, just, just out of Bristol but this is still v v local for us. Is there a fundraiser?

BundleBoogie · 05/12/2025 10:26

Great news! Those councillors clearly don’t understand their job.

Behaving like a rational adult should be a minimum qualification.

and I'm assuming this might prod journalists to do their job and ask ZP about the behaviour and attitude of the Green Party towards GC people

Helleofabore · 05/12/2025 10:58

I think this is an important court case. Those are very brave women and I appreciate what they are doing. The reported incidents out of Bristol have been most concerning and banning women from their democratic right on the grounds that they have, which was asking legitimate questions to clarify the council's position and thinking, is chilling.

Absolutely chilling.

There isn’t a fundraiser.

Apollo441 · 05/12/2025 11:05

I look forward to the Greens justifying their behaviour in a court of law. All previous court cases involving Gender Ideology have shown it be without the slightest logical or moral base. It withers under interrogation which is why they avoid it at all costs (but can't do so in a court of law).

deadpan · 05/12/2025 13:11

How can asking respectfully phrased questions by colleagues be so offensive that you feel the need to walk out. JFC how delicate are these people.

RedToothBrush · 05/12/2025 13:39

Do it.

Seriously. Fuck off wankers.
In some cases. Literally wankers.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/12/2025 13:42

Thanks for the archive link.

The Bristol City Council leader, Tony Dyer, has criticised the Supreme Court ruling in the past and demanded support for biological men who wanted to “chest-feed” babies in a 39-page response to a consultation by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) on updates to its guidance, following the Supreme Court ruling in April this year.

If the journalist has got this right, Mr Dyer's an utter numpty. What about the baby's rights to have a safe milk supply and not to be a prop for natal male's play-acting, to put it at its mildest? What about the mother's and baby's need for support with establishing breastfeeding, which is a delicate business and shouldn't be disrupted by someone else demanding the right to 'feed' the baby with a drug-induced secretion in addition to or instead of the mother's milk?

TaraMySalata · 05/12/2025 13:55

Pleased to hear this. Bristol Council are an absolute embarrassment. I’d happily donate to a crowdfunder.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 05/12/2025 13:59

Good, the arrogance of these councillors is off the scale, they clearly have no understanding of what being a democratically elected official means. They're acting like an autocratic, self-entitled bunch of wankers. Banning members of the public because they don't like their views WTAF. 🤬

NoRagretsNC · 05/12/2025 14:41

Wow, shocked to see councillors dismiss their constituents so boldly and disrespectfully. I really hope there is some consequence for chipping away at democracy like this.

Excellent news - well done those women

Haroldwilson · 05/12/2025 14:50

They've made their point. Suing the council is stupid and likely to cost the taxpayer money that could be better spent on other things.
