Man wins World's Strongest Woman 2025 competition

It appears a man (Jammie Booker) has won the 2025 World's Strongest Woman competition in Arlington, Texas. Beating Andrea Thompson, who is a superb British Strongwoman, by 1 point to take the overall win.

If you don't know anything about the sport, there are reguarly accusations of strongwomen being men, as it is a normal part of the sport for both men and women to be on gear which does mean quite a lot of the women do end up with some masculinsation of their bodies and deeper voices.

However, it appears this time the accusations are correct. There is a video of Andrea angrily leaving the podium. There is a thread on the Strongman HQ Reddit(!) which links to a video of Jammie talking about being a "trans girl" complete the usual anime drawings. Same profile photo and voice, so appears to be him. The Reddit thread has not been taken down and comments, apart from pronoun policing, is largely against men competing in Strongwoman competitions.

So well done to Andrea Thompson on her first place win.

I found the post from them on Facebook reversing their decision to award the cheating man, so the algorithm has seized upon that and now I'm seeing more posts about it. And so far, so many comments in support of Andrea and of women's sport for women which is really lovely to see!

They mentioned it on the radio 4 news headlines just now - and it’s not like it was a low news day!

truthsayers · 26/11/2025 19:11

this is my benchmark to indicate how stark racong
mad some TRA’s are. If they’re ok with a male like
thjs winning a prize in a woman’s competition like this, there’s something seriously wrong with them and no amount of civilised debate will sway them.

WonderfulSmith · 26/11/2025 19:13

Radio 4 news headlines at 7pm. Focussing on that the woman who won was British.

I don't think that's quite true. Can you match a single one of Rebecca Thompson's PRs? I'm an average man and I am not even close.

Well … I think ‘Rebecca Thompson’ is a conflation of two strong women so they’d definitely outdo you Bez!Grin

Oh gosh mea culpa! I'm mentally drained - has been a long long year

I'm pleasantly surprised by BBC's coverage of this. They have published another article as they have interviewed Andrea Thompson

A welcome surprise that the organizers made amends so quickly. Other sporting bodies should take note. This is how it's done.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 26/11/2025 22:49

Agree, but I'm not sure it really is amends. Yes, the rapid apology and clear statements and re allocating the awards and places is good, but that does not make up for what those women lost on the day.

He still stood on the podium having his moment while the women fumed silently, forced to comply next to him, asking 'can we go now?' to officials. They had to submit. They had to let him have his jolly and enjoy his little game, while they lost the emotional pay off and the recognition in public of the years of training and work that went towards that competition.

Getting a 'sorry, we got that wrong, here's a medal' popped over in the post a day or two later does not make up for that.

What it needs to look like is cheek swabs well in advance of competition that weeds out cheating bastards and prevents them using women's lives and competition as their personal theme park.

UK weightlifter named world's strongest woman as trans winner disqualified

A UK weightlifter has been crowned the world's strongest woman after it emerged that the original winner was a trans athlete and should not have been competing in the category.

I'm shocked that a cheating male, for once, has had the award rescinded. This is great.

I do wonder though, if both Jammie and Andrea were British, what side would the British media take? I suspect Jammie. I think they're only supporting Andrea because she is British and Jammie is not.

I really wish the papers would stop referring to him as a her/she, it's fucking annoying and just wrong. 🤬

SwirlyGates · 27/11/2025 19:57

Is the pic in your post the one they are calling erotic? 😂

Edited

I quite agree. However, this has been good publicity for common sense and fairness, and is hopefully a warning to such men to get back in their box.

Yes - but at least now they don’t shy away from quotes using accurate pronouns.

lcakethereforeIam · 30/11/2025 20:50

I'm really upset that it's taken me this long to realise he should be called Jammie Todger. It's such an obvious pun. I hope someone else has also come up with it.
