Well the fox killer is going after ECB for banning men from women's cricket because its not a contact sport as if its not dangerous for women to play against men🙄

English cricket facing legal action over transgender ban

Good Law Project claims ECB excluding those born male from competing in women’s game is ‘unlawful’ and has demanded decision is reversed

In what capacity will the Good Laugh Project and /or Jollyone take legal action?

Will any such case even get to court?

I mean, I hope so, for the entertainment value.

Hoardasurass · 30/10/2025 18:20

@Chersfrozenface no idea other than its discrimination against transwomen and it must be stopped especially since uni sports teams are being forced to ban men in women's sports now so its time to take a stand (according to joylin) so hes instructed all "top team" of lawyer's to start pre crt correspondence, ie writing threatening letters.

JFC!!!!!! How many fast bowlers has he faced?

It doesn’t matter if it’s a contact sport or not. Women’s cricket is for women.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/10/2025 18:24

Indeed. What a tone deaf pronouncement from the fox killer on a day when the devastating harm that a cricket ball can cause is all over the press.
That poor young man and his family and friends. Tragic.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 30/10/2025 18:25

Hahaha what an utter bellend he is

i can only assume the fox botherer has never played cricket or indeed any sport if he doesn't understand men bowl/throw/hit balls harder than women

theilltemperedmaggotintheheartofthelaw · 30/10/2025 20:50

From Harriet Haynes' case:

267 Having come to the end of what is essentially a long footnote to this judgment, I reiterate that in my view the effect of the decision in FWS is that the claim fails at the first hurdle because there has been no gender reassignment discrimination. The claim must therefore be dismissed.

Isn't this case on all fours with that, and therefore doomed to fail? It doesn't even matter whether it's gender-affected.

SternJoyousBeev2 · 30/10/2025 20:54

If uni students want to virtue signal then they should start a mixed sex league…but they would have to allow non trans identifying men to join too. No one is saying TIMs cannot play cricket, but they can’t play in a woman’s team.

ItsCoolForCats · 30/10/2025 20:57

Yeah good luck with that. If a court has ruled that pool is a gender (sex) affected sport, on what grounds do they think they will say cricket isn't? I'm sure Prof Ross Tucker, Dr. Emma Hilton etc. will be more than happy to provide expert evidence if required.

But if they want to waste their donors' money in this way, that's up to them I guess. They have to show that they are doing something with it.

SionnachRuadh · 30/10/2025 21:49

I'd be happy to see this come to court if it would mean Helen Joyce's zillions of cricketing siblings giving evidence that men bowl faster and hit harder than women.

Failing that, we could get Aggers to come in and read out some stats. I doubt if there's any sport with such a wealth of stats.

Sadly it probably won't get that far and will just be added to the list of Jolyon's pratfalls.

illuminada · 31/10/2025 07:25

The trans community on Reddit seem to be wiseing up to the Good Laugh Project.
A lot of disappointment there.

Maaate · 31/10/2025 08:10

Ha, I posted a while back that the time will come when the TRAs will realise that they are being rinsed. Looks like it might be starting 🍿🍿🍿

Chersfrozenface · 31/10/2025 08:24

I wonder whether they just think Jollyon and his crew are not up to the job, and all they need is a better lawyer.

Or is opinion swinging to "We must get the law changed"?

potpourree · 31/10/2025 08:43

Single-sex (mixed gender identity, if you believe in GI) sports have been around since the dawn of time.

This sudden campaigning to make all sports mixed-sex is a bit weird, and must be one of those passions men pick up later in life?

Jolyon could have just bought himself a leather jacket and a sports car, and saved everyone a lot of aggravation.

TomPinch · 31/10/2025 19:46

I hope that the court directs that before the case is heard Maugham has to face an over from Brett Lee, like Piers Morgan did. This was the result.

(The backstory was that during an Ashes series Morgan accused the English of being cowards. Lee - an Australian - was so incensed on behalf of the English that he challenged Morgan to an over from him. Cricket is more dangerous than people often think)

This is the argument that is steadfastly ignored by the likes of JM because it isn’t about just wanting to play sport (or pee, or get changed…..), it is about doing this whilst included in the female category.

They hide this ‘non-negotiable’ because they want to hide their resistance to compromise (and hide the reasonable alternatives) and want to position their demands as the only solution that allows basic needs to be met.

The disingenuous is ugly.

The donors' money issue looks increasingly distasteful. The GLP isn't a registered charity, Maugham can tilt at any windmill he likes & has form for being economical with the truth when it comes to informing his supporters about his losses or all the times he lacked standing to bring a case, or couldn't advance a coherent skeleton argument. He also has form for leaving his begging bowl out after the case for which it was allegedly raising funds had already bitten the dust.

There's a nicely detailed article about the GLP's real win/loss ratio on the labourpainsblog. IIRC, the author is still updating the table near the bottom of the page - use the internal search for "good law project lies damned lies and statistics". Sorry for roundabout directions but I keep seeing people on here say they're unable to post links.

I honestly don't know how people fall for it. Their track record is terrible on these type of cases, yet JM is always on social media bragging and twisting things, trying to make out that they are having all these victories in holding people to account. It's just spin and bluster, but many of his supporters can't see through it.

And going after cricket almost seems like a deliberate attempt to waste their donations. If it was chess, it might seem less doomed to failure. But the way, I believe the women's category in chess should be for women only, but at least they wouldn't have to try and argue that male advantage is insignificant.

nicepotoftea · 02/11/2025 09:49

I don't understand his argument - running isn't a contact sport, but it is still unfair for men to compete against women.

Why is he specifically arguing this angle? Is his case that men and women should be able to practice and do drills together?

They get to raise a load of cash with no oversight & no tranparency about where it ends up. They totter along to a judge with something that only identifies as a case, get thrown out on their arse & lo! nothing at all achieved, except an opportunity for Maugham to shove out a load of emotive guff & insults to the judiciary on Bluesky, & for Family Maugham to tell themselves what a noble paladin Daddy is.
Meanwhile, the GLP gold hoard ticks up its interest & Maugham can do with it whatever he likes after paying doubtless carefully minimised tax & that big GLP wages bill.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 02/11/2025 18:52

For some reason, Mel Brooks' 'Producers' comes to mind a lot. No idea why.

CassOle · 02/11/2025 20:35

'Springtime for Jolyon' - such a catchy tune!

SidewaysOtter · 02/11/2025 20:35

I honestly don't know how people fall for it.

I suspect that, in addition to those who see donating to the GLP as a good cause to support (particularly now Mermaids are a busted flush), there's a cohort of people who've bought the line that "trans rights are under attack" and are desperate for someone to "save them". This particularly applies to the sort of person you find on Transgender Reddit, convinced (sadly) that they're the potential victim of a genocide, "all GCs want us dead", so on and so forth.

Enter stage left: Jolyon, presenting as a knight in shining armour but actually just an idiot in tin foil.

(Whenever talk of GLP's finances come up, the image always comes to mind of Smaug sitting on his big pile of gold...)
