Well that’s gone well for Emma hasn’t it?
i am so glad JKR has finally addressed this in public.
the three former actors must be feeling very left out now that the tv series is gaining momentum and very pissed of that Tom Felton got the dream Broadway gig and a job on the new series, both I’m sure we can be certain were in JKRs to gift.

Oooh what’s he doing on the new series?

LaurelBush · 29/09/2025 20:15

aold · 29/09/2025 18:13

just noticed that India Willoughby is doing post after post after post of toxic posts about JKR again. It’s really unsettling and odd.

Wow. Just gone and had a look on X. He's having a normal one, isn't he? Even for him, it's deranged and obsessed.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 29/09/2025 20:15

Can someone screen shot for the benefit of those of us not on X?

ArabellaSaurus · 29/09/2025 20:48

He's made a post with a picture of what I assume must be JKR's childhood home. Creepy doesn't begin to cover it.

ArabellaSaurus · 29/09/2025 20:48

I don't want to make a screenshot of it, because it's fucking weird posting pictures of someone's house. Text:

'Classic gaslighting and manipulation from JK Rowling. Plays the victim - but SHE is the sniggering abusive bully who revels in nastiness. Really leans into the White woman’s tears to encourage hate and contempt for her target - trans people - specifically women who are trans. Time and again. Absolutely disgusting. Btw, you didn’t grow up ‘ordinary’ as you imply
@jk_rowling

  • you were in this converted schoolhouse!'
ArabellaSaurus · 29/09/2025 20:50

Willoughby's posted six tweets today about JKR. Obsessed.

None of the characters were written as well in the films. Grint did rubber faced comic relief, which is what film Ron was. He can gurn well enough for that.

I am going to defend Grint a bit here, I thought he was the better of the three in the last few films, acting a lot more like an older teenage boy would be actually like, talk and react compared to the script-stilted Radcliffe and Watson.

He was the best of the bunch tbf, pity they gave all the best lines to Emma’s character.

Wasn't it Rupert Grint who said JRK was a bit like a racist aunt though?

LBFseBrom · 29/09/2025 22:57

When young, issues often appear black and white. People change their minds as they get older, their views soften and they are better able to see things from other viewpoints. That is what has happened with Emma Watson.

or her previous views are less fashionable now and garner her fewer headpats

It’s really almost impossible to know which is the real truth innit?

Where are you getting the ‘racist’ bit from?

Does anyone ever bother with receipts?

Yes it is but I'm prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt.

DontCallMeLenYouLittleBollix · 29/09/2025 17:15

Yes, I can see why they chose film initially, but the material seems much more suited to a TV series.

Also not surprised they've gone with kids who have some acting chops already, well as far as that's possible at aged 11. Casting something like this is inevitably a punt, and they failed pretty hard last time. I find it really hard to believe that the leading 3 were all the best candidates available for the roles.

I tried to give the movie kids a bit of leeway and they did become marginally better as the films went on (despite Watson only being able to do over ennuciated know it all or angry, Grimes only being able to do gulping comedic shock or bad tempered, and Radcliffe only being able to do wide eyed shock or shouting)

But fuck, the first film is basically unwatchable because of the overdone stage schoolness of it all. Particularly bad standout scenes are the '....I'm....a....what?' line after the 'yer a wizard Harry' and the 'you've got dirt on your nose by the way' one. It's hard to believe that they, out of God knows how many kids auditioned, were the best.

I wasn't sure if I remembered what he had said correctly, which is why I phrased it as a question.

I figured someone else would remember exactly what he said and correct me if I had remembered it wrong.

Edit to add that the reason I mentioned the racist bit was because I thought he had essentially said he felt affectionate towards her like you would an aunt, but thought her views on trans rights were akin to racism.

Again, I may be remembering this all wrong so please feel free to correct me if I have misremembered.

GallantKumquat · 30/09/2025 01:32

Grint's 'auntie' comment was fairly innocuous: "I don't necessarily agree with everything my auntie says, but she's still my auntie. It's a tricky one".

But, it has to be remembered what we're we're talking about: cancellation was an act of terror. Many lost their jobs, friends, acquaintances, and professional colleagues - even family members - over the issue. Nothing can really describe the sensation of having your life turned upside-down and the people who you once counted as as friends become part of an unrecognizable mob and the instruments of your downfall.

Rowling would have thought that her generosity, personal integrity and the strength of her professional relationships would have insulated her from that. Instead Watson, Radcliff, Grint and countless others turned against her at the drop of a hat and only thing that saved her was the brute force of her wealth and established fame. But as for the people around her, the majority could have been picked out of Lord of the Flies. It is an incalculable betrayal that goes far beyond any one given action or statement.

I’ve just seen this post. I watched the 1 minute video. She definitely mouthed “bar one” just as is stated. That’s a pretty nasty dig at JKR and it was only in 2022.

I’m like wow 😯

Edited

Incredible. I thought she was silly & had been guilted/emotionally blackmailed by TRAs (there's a very uncomfortable clip of her with Paris Lees) but I didn't realise that she'd was spitefully dissing her.

Haven't seen Radcliffe or Grint in anything else they've done since, but I didn't think Emma was bad in other stuff she'd done, (Bling Ring, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Noah, Little Women). She's not Saoirse Ronan, but she's not awful either.

Didn't think Grint was all that terrible either. I have seen Radcliffe at 10 in the BBC David Copperfield, and he was good there. Apparently Columbus was influenced by this and the recommendation of Maggie Smith (who was Aunt Betsy in it) to cast Radcliffe. I think I read in an interview that his nerves over the Potter hype made him worse in the early films, and I think that's probs true.

Yes, he acted in the M Night Shyamalan series Servant for several seasons as 1 of the 4 leads, I'd like to watch that. It's horror so would definitely show another side and has been well reviewed. He was also in Shymalan's film Knock At The Cabin in 2023 too.

@MusettasWaltz Emma only got those roles quickly after rumours of her and Harvey Weinstein. She was apparently one of his conquests when she wanted to break hollywood then quickly fell out of his limelight.

MusettasWaltz · 30/09/2025 04:04

ThatCyanCat · 29/09/2025 14:42

It wouldn't be hard. However, she does already have West End experience so I'm pretty confident.

She looks better for the part too. Lovely looking child who I am sure will grow into a lovely looking woman, but doesn't have that "supermodel in training" look that Hermione really, really shouldn't have.

Yes, it's awkward but I do think Emma was too pretty for Hermione. Hermione does have an ugly duckling moment at the Yule Ball & she's certainly nice looking, plus her buck teeth are shortened in the middle of the series, but I don't think she was meant to have a model type look.

What? Weinstein? Where'd you hear that?

I still don't think she was bad in them, but that is interesting info...disturbing too. Jennifer Lawrence is well known to be connected to him, and is another who I think performs well but was overhyped in relation to what she'd actually done

Quackedout · 30/09/2025 04:12

@MusettasWaltz you can usually identify them, they are so hungry for fame that they will do anything, and their success comes out of nowhere. JL then won the Oscar. EW was in a ton of movies out of nowhere too. You can google it but essentially its when she had the pixie cut hairdo.
