Seems like he is not for biological reality and protecting children from gender medicine after all. Caught on hidden camera pandering to the TRA mob. I really dislike people who speak out of different sides of their mouths to play to different audiences.

There's a government summary here

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/hillsborough-law-bill#:~:text=Details,and%20delivering%20justice%20for%20victims

I must admit I'm not entirely clear either, it seems to mostly be about inquests.

Thanks!

Obviosuly I'm aware of Hillsborough. I live in Liverpool and was listening to the match on the radio that fateful day; and I'm obviously aware of the many years of inquest and enquiry that followed......but honestly don't understand what RTB's post was suggesting or implying?

Many women on here have never trusted him due to his membership of Liam/Lily Madigan’s “Labour Against Transphobia” secret doxxing purge group.

I do sometimes wonder what happened to that creepy wee shite.

Seems to have literally vanished. Good riddance and all, but would be curious to know if the 'Lily' stunt having ceased to supply the narc requirements, he's reverted to Liam.

My sense with WS is that he had a moment where he realised how incoherent the whole of GI is, that it wasn't what he thought, a kind of gay thing.

And he realises that long term it can't prevail, it's too full of contradictions and problems.

Not to say I think he's trustworthy or principled, maybe, maybe not. But he can see it's a stinker.

I smell a leadership challenge in the air. Maybe the unions have tapped him up because they have lost Rayner. Maybe they have asked him to tone it down a bit. The whole 'Blokes have to use the female toilets because they were born female' is 100% TRA play book. I was confident about Streeting - now, not so much. Stinks a bit of 'after the revolution sister' to me.

Why have the unions ‘lost’ Rayner? She is still an MP and a Privy Councillor (optional). Rayner is still eligible to be nominated if she wanted and there was enough backing.

It seems Lucy Powell is now the front-runner for Deputy, registering more of the party membership vote.Personally not sure that this would be the best move for Labour as far as focusing on the threat posed by Reform is concerned; and she's TWAW isn't she?

Floisme · 17/09/2025 15:50

I'm not sure whether Lucy Powell is openly TWAW, I think it's more that she's talked about protecting 'women's spaces' without explaining exactly what she meant by the phrase. I can't recall her saying anything about it since the Supreme Court judgement.

What I do remember is her 'dog whistle' comment on Question Time when she was asked about grooming gangs. She did, in fairness apologise.

But all in all, I imagine Reform would be delighted if she were elected Deputy Leader.

Really, really hope Bindel's right on this. And she's pretty smart. 🤞

PhilOPastry62 · 18/09/2025 11:49

I'm inclined to trust Julie Bindel and Transgender Trend, both of whom were at the event and said the heavily edited video gives a misleading impression.

I don't particularly trust Streeting, but I think he might be the only politician who's admitted he'd been wrong on this issue in the past, and publicly changed his position. We've seen some reverse-ferreting in Scottish Labour, but neither Anas Sarwar nor Jackie Baillie have acknowledged much less apologised for the damage they did by not listening to women before the GRR bill and for whipping the party to vote with the SNP. Next to them, Streeting looks trustworthy and full of integrity!

He presents one face to the Darlington nurses and another to the TRAs. What does the man actually believe?

I believe the man just believes in furthering his own interests, pure and simple. Very disappointing.

ScrollingLeaves · 18/09/2025 17:28

Aah. I had almost believed him.

Julie Bindle is inclined to be sympathetic:

I was at the event, and this is not a fair interpretation of it. Streeting was hit with very aggressive pro gender ideology questions and statements, and he hedged around a little bit, admitting that he was uncomfortable with being told by “Trans kids” that they were suffering because of not having puberty blockers. It’s a very different take to the one that James is spinning. Streeting did not say that he either didn’t want to ban puberty blockers, or that he regretted it:

I can see where she's coming from. But nothing Esse said was untrue and the video is available to see. At the least I would say it's horrible politics, even if it doesn't rise to the level of treachery.

For me, referring to “trans kids” is wrong for a start.
