I don't think it's misunderstood. I think it's blatant lies!

Ah well yes there is that!

By definition, Turner syndrome only affects women.

There are some cases of XO/XY mosaic resulting in a male but it's very very rare. As far as classic XO some doctors consider it intersex and not a "true woman"

At least the Department of Heath and Social Care didn't fall into the people trap. “All women and girls* *deserve to be listened to and treated with respect. It should never be the case that period pains, which can be severe, are dismissed and women told to ‘just put up with it’." Is that Wes Streeting having an effect?

It must be years since I looked at the Guardian style guide - I haven't been a regular reader for a long time - so I don't know if there's a policy on this.

I do know you sometimes get obviously jarring bits of language at the Guardian, which comes with being a very ideological publication. I've noticed that in recent years they seem reluctant to refer to lesbians, and prefer to mention "queer women", which doesn't necessary mean the same thing.

Back in the day, the G used to explain/justify their style guide regularly, on grounds of logic, fairness, etc. But I'd like to see anyone claim that talking about 'men' when the topic is prostate cancer, and 'people' when the topic is breast cancer, or maternity, etc, is fair and equitable.

And yeah, I know they'd come out with some shit about men can get breast cancer too. But that's just a fig-leaf.

Also, if I'm getting this right, a 'queer woman' could be heterosexual, no? So not a lesbian.

ETA: typo.

It's misogyny re-packaged as progress. Like replacing actress with actor.

And we know what leads to, girls and boys, don't we?
