Norwich South MP Clive Lewis has written to Bridget Phillipson, Minister for Women & Equalities demanding that he MPs be allowed to tamper with, delay & derail “scrutinise” the EHRC guidance on the Supreme Court judgment.

It’s alarming an MP apparently doesn’t realise that the law is scrutinised when MPs pass it.

He’a getting a lot of pushback, and a Community Note. Over 1.5k replies, almost all negative, and from people like Labour Women’s Declaration, Rosie Duffield MP, Tom Harris, Lesbian Labour & For Women Scotland, who brought the case in the first place.

He has replied to ONE comment, & it’s by a bloke.

Clive Lewis has been an MP for ten years and still doesn't understand how laws are made.

I hate to be rude, but he makes Sarah Owen look like Einstein.

He's had 1.7K replies, mostly from women. He's replied to one man. Keep tweeting Clive you do our work for us.

One can only assume women's written words are too shrill for him.

This tactic of "I'll pick one reply, and that one will be from a bloke" was famously employed by Rhun ap Iorwerth.

Clive might like to ask Rhun how that's going for him. Rhun was last seen running away from a small group of middle aged women whom he suspected might want to ask him what a woman was.

Aha so now he wants a debate, does he? Funny that.

Pretty sure it’s not “debate” he wants. But to produce guidance as to the law which won’t actually follow the law.

The EHRC have announced they are taking regulatory action against organisations in the police, health and educational sectors who misrepresent equality law on Single Sex Spaces. That’ll please CL!!

Wow. Is it me or is that a particularly graceless letter to a senior Government Minister? It reads like he is telling her off. Would he use the same tone to David Lammy, I wonder?

Reminds me of the vile, childish way the stupid WEC members spoke to Baroness Falkner.

She's had to take so much shit, and has handled it with grace and professionalism. If only there were more in government like her.

Lewis is full of rubbish. However remember this is one of the most ardent TA MPs right now. He doesn't have any arguments, and his position is kind of a joke. By going public like this in a clearly daft manner it hardens the way most MPs will not touch this issue. They will go along with the winners. That is not going to be the TAs because the reason they refuse debate and the reason Lewis will not listen to 1000s of women is they can't argue it out.

Lewis can't even muster the basic TA defense line. That is not a good look for them. Other Labour MPs like Angela Eagle are TAs, but they are way more dangerous. Because they hide their rubbish ideas behind rhetorical tricks.

Lewis undermines the entire TA project amongst Labour MPs. Philipson is going to ignore him. The TAs get more marginalised.

Lewis like McCloud and Maugham are part of Operation Let Them Speak. They are MORE useful for our side than for the TAs.

It’s been pointed out, and he claims he only replied to his mate ‘Crofty’ - nice chummy lads they are - because he was ‘one of the first to reply’.

Except - and this will surprise you - he wasn’t the first, by a long chalk.
