Going to be a big one.

Implement the Supreme Court judgement now

By 4th Sept it will be 20 weeks since the Supreme Court handed down its judgment, yet very little has changed in Scotland. Trans guidance for schools remains stubbornly in place, men are still housed in female prisons & women’s hospital wards routinely accommodate men.

Scottish government has the power and the resources to ensure that the law is complied with across the public sector, but they drag their heels. This won’t go away. We want our government to step up now and sort out the mess their faulty guidance has caused.

Please join us at the Scottish Parliament at 11am on Thurs 4th September to tell the Scottish Government that, quite simply, #WomenWontWait any longer. We want our rights fully restored…now!

Fantastic. I will be cheering them on and following online.

Whilst we are there, perhaps we should pop in to the National Library of Scotland to ask to see their copy of Women Who Won't Wheesht.

Bump!

The deadline for the Scottish government to respond to FWS latest court case falls conveniently on Demo day. Will the SNP give women back their rights? Or will they have to take them? It is happening either way.

Bonus - Apparently various Authors will be doing an banned books signing of that controversial bestseller The Women Who Wouldn't Wheesht.

Thanks to all who are able to attend!! Wish I could be there too.

How did it go?

WaterThyme · 04/09/2025 14:12

Excellent turnout. Fabulous inspiring speakers.

They defeated the petulant young man who played a sound system very loudly while being defended by between 2 and 4 police officers who refused to maintain our right to protest, as Joanna Cherry pointed out.

A powerful and heartwarming event.

It was excellent. There was a bloke playing loud music who Joanna Cherry thought legally the police should have moved away as you can’t have freedom of speech if someone tries to drown you out and she thought they would have removed her if she had tried drowning out a trans meeting with loud music. I am not a fan of counter protests they just increase conflict and an us and them mentality. Organise your own protest on a different day. There were good speakers. Politicians spoke from all the Scottish parties except the SGP and Lib Dem’s ( no surprise there) and Lucy Hunter Blackburn reminded women to think about their rights in the MSP elections next May. The only SNP speaker is standing down and thought that if she didn’t stand down she may be deselected so they still sound very captured. Lucy spoke about us reclaiming our captured institutions. Forwomen Scot have given Scotgov until tomorrow to comply with the Supreme Court guidelines and start producing compliant guidance for schools prisons and local authorities or they will start legal action

The blaring out music not only silenced the prowomen event but an adjacent demo where the names of dead Palestinian children are being read in commemoration. Very good numbers

Holyrood protest trans activist awarded cash by under-fire SNP quango
A Trans activist accused of disrupting a feminist rally at the Scottish parliament has been handed taxpayer-funded grants by a controversial SNP quango.
Tom Harlow – whose real name is Thomas Michael Moncrieff Carlin – was given thousands of pounds by Creative Scotland from a hardship fund set up for ‘freelancers’.
