https://reduxx.info/exclusive-brazilian-woman-granted-refugee-status-in-europe-after-facing-25-year-sentence-for-misgendering-trans-politician/

'In a precedent-setting move, a European country has officially granted full refugee protections to a Brazilian women’s rights activist who was facing 25 years in prison in her home country for misgendering a transgender politician. Isabella Cêpa is the first person to be recognized as a victim of state persecution for her outspoken opposition to gender identity ideology.'

I'm sure Amnesty will be in touch in due course.

Fuck me! I have a few days off and shit like this happens.

Waves to the Brazilian authorities.👋

That is a man. Before that he was a boy. He's a he/him. He was, is, and will always be a male of the species! And so are all the other men claiming womanhood. None of them are special. None of them have acquired the ability to actually change sex. And I've so had enough of this gaslighting shit.

Brazil: give your head a wobble will you.

Here is said man.

Reen Alsalam AT UNSRVAW
The decision by an EU country to grant refugee status to this Brazilian woman is significant for more than one reason.

To begin with, it is the first of its kind (at least that we know of).

It is also an acknowledgement that the threats and punishment imposed on women who assert their views on sex and gender can amount to persecution and that their lives could be in danger if forced to return to where they came from.

Third, it acknowledges that the woman in question did not escape to avoid prosecution for an ordinary crime (as that would normally exclude you from refugee status).

It is therefore reflects an understanding of the authorities in the European country of asylum that the charges and the risk of this excessive sentence are function as tools of persecution and not prosecution.

An least one European country is recognising that 'Process Is Punishment' not just the Punishment itself for gender critical women.

That's hugely significant.

Keep watching this.

In this clip, Toby Young of the Free Speech Union says that by far the largest number of claims they're defending (he says 40%) is women who are being discriminated against for their views on sex and gender.

'...we fought over 4,000 cases and where they've come to a conclusion we've been successful about 80% of the time. And in our case database on Salesforce, um by far the largest category is sex and gender, about 40% um of those 4,000 plus cases we fought over the past 5 years, uh, have been defending um, uh, gender critical women...

...the front line, the people who find themselves cancelled more often, the people who find it more difficult than anyone else to kind of, uh, express how they feel about something, um, even if it's perfectly lawful, um, are women.'

Now that we've received Isabella Cêpa over on this side, could we enable one of the prominent trans activists who is facing unbearable oppression following the SC judgment to move over to Brazil?

All those TRAs who say they’re going to flee “TERF island”, well there you go chaps, Brazil’s the place for you. Off you fuck.

RedToothBrush · 08/08/2025 08:38

A couple have written articles on leaving the country. It doesn't sound like the place that gave this woman asylum was the UK despite all their comments. It'll be interesting to see if any of them comment on this story and what they say about it.

1600 women have approached the Free Speech Union on this issue?! Is that just in the UK?!

If that's true that's insane because that's the number of women who have known to take advice from the Free Speech Union which is probably the top of the iceberg.

And the politicians have kept saying this is a niche issue that doesn't really affect many people?!

No wonder there's a massive backlash occurring and no wonder there's so much interest in employment tribunals etc.

I knew there was a dam effect and there was a breech in the dam, but if those numbers are reflective there hasn't been a dam collapse yet and wow that's going to be spectacular and is going to spiral to an epic scandal if it does.

They are one of the few groups who can really see the scale of this thing starting to play out in real time. I can only see it getting bigger.

The Foreign Office needs to add a warning to their travel advice for Brazil. Many people could fall foul of this law accidentally. I certainly have written it off my travel list now.

That’s a good idea! How many people would see the FO advice and think WTF? How do we get this warning listed?

Justme56 · 02/09/2025 21:45

There has been an update. Brazil’s Supreme Court has officially closed the case against IC so no criminal prosecution.

I note that this article and the other one in the Telegraph about Glinner both have about 1500 supportive comments.
