Trans-identifying female planned school attack

Couldn't see a thread on this, apologies if I've missed one.

I remember this case from previously, and now it's in the news again due to sentencing today.

The "trans" part is of course pretty well hidden in the BBC article https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clyj2g5l1g2o (in a part that says, "Ahead of sentencing, Winter's lawyer said that the teenager was vulnerable and a transgender person and that would need to be taken into account." Hmm). Male pronouns throughout. The Scottish Daily Express is much clearer, saying above the article "Felix Winter, who was born female but identifies as a male..." https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/scottish-news/trans-teen-obsessed-columbine-massacre-35646796 Pronouns mostly avoided, but a couple of "he"s appear in a quote.

It's pretty rare, obviously, for school attacks to happen or be planned, and even rarer in the UK. It's also rare for females to be the perpetrators. So we have an intersection of rare events...

Is the trans identity random and irrelevant? Is it down to hormones? (This person is only 18, so perhaps we can say not). Is it down to wanting to prove a masculine identity? This article suggests it could play a part "So why are female school shooters rare? Jillian Peterson, co-founder of the aforementioned Violence Prevention Project who is also a forensic psychologist and professor of criminology, says many school shooters “see themselves” in the perpetrators behind other mass shootings, which have historically been men." https://www.campussafetymagazine.com/insights/how-common-are-female-school-shooters/165257/

As I understand it, the studies showing that male people have a similar rate of violent offending as each other irrespective of the hormones they are taking, show that female people who take testosterone are much more likely to be convicted of an offence.

As pp say above, I don’t know how much of this is considered to be about hormones - we aren’t driven by hormones without any agency - and how much is related to a stereotyped sense of a crime being something that men do and therefore committing crimes proves you are more manly.

Mochudubh · 31/07/2025 09:12

@CompleteGinasaur I didn't see the written report, just the teatime edition of RS but the comment from the lawyer did seem tagged on.

I looked at the photo and just saw a short-haired girl, similar to half my female classmates in the 80s, including me.

At a certain point, we are going to need to ask the question of whether exogenous testosterone makes girls and women violent.

One of my trans FtM students got into quite violent rages and was taking T. I'm sure it must have an effect. Especially vulnerable young people who are often neurodivergent and/or have other mental health problems.

Here’s another Scottish TIF: https://news.stv.tv/east-central/knife-attacker-tried-to-murder-man-on-kirkcaldy-street-after-chance-meeting

I think it’s worth asking if both these women are alumni of Scotland’s only gender clinic, the Sandyford. It’s not like Scotland is a big place! I think it’s worth an FOI to see how many TIFs from the Sandyford have been either charged and/or convicted of offences and how many ended up in prison. I’m sure KPSS had a stat (before she left X) to say how many TIFs were in Scotland’s only female prison and they were still receiving T. I think there could be a major story there. Perhaps it’s worth asking FWS or another Scottish organisation who might have standing to ask?

This person was the one initially sent to a high security man’s prison. They wonder why people complain about reporting!

Female prisoner sent to men's maximum security jail in police bungle

The prisoner who had appeared in court, was processed as a man – based on appearance – and taken to Perth jail. before staff realised they wrongly had a female prisoner.

FannyCann · 31/07/2025 09:25

This report by the Herald gives no clue that the person is female/trans.
It's another example of how this shocking reporting means that the big issue is totally ignored - there needs to be more research and discussion regarding the effects of testosterone on young women generally, but in particular young women with mental health problems. It's very concerning if this is fuelling a rise in violence in this group plus how is their treatment managed and monitored whilst in prison? Prisons should not be mental health hospitals.

I agree this person is disturbed but had they actually gone beyond costumes and googling? There had been talk of buying a 3D printer to make a gun but had one actually been bought?

Jaws2025 · 31/07/2025 09:30

If you read the judgement linked to below you can see they had quite a specific plan, and were assessed to be a risk.

Sounds a bit like Roid Rage in , mostly male , bodybuilders. Aren't anabolic steroids related to or derived from testosterone?

Ironic how hard it is for menopausal women to get testosterone....

I'm glad this person was stopped as she sounds very dangerous. However, I'm not at all convinced that after six years in prison, or however long she serves, she will be any less dangerous. The entire system is shite, especially our support for young people with mental health problems, and the trans stuff has only exacerbated that. I'd be interested to know what happened after the first few Prevent referrals, because it sounds like she just kept escalating until bad enough to be jailed.

The judge talks about both deradicalisation and treatment. This girl was young and clearly very disturbed and vulnerable, with a trauma history. There is a possibility she will receive help in prison.

ByatchTrollFromHell · 31/07/2025 11:27

Every news outlet colluding in this girl's delusion is harming her. She needs help, treatment, and sober assertion of reality.

The reality of where her delusions have taken her is a very stark illustration of what online grooming and radicalisation can do.

Shame on any media outlet participating in this girl's dangerous fantasies.

I really do hope so.

BeLemonNow · 31/07/2025 23:44

I hope she gets decent help and can be rehabilitated in prison.

Not looked at this case in detail, but I imagine she was on the dark web where you can get all sorts including testosterone.

One of the Q asked in gender clinics for hormones is how Ftm managed anger, so it must be a concern.

Clearly this case is far more complex than that r.e. a rabbit hole of isolation and online violence.
