Think they’re taking the piss? Feel free to use faculties to change for the march & free breakfast meanwhile loads of staff being made redundant or taking severance pay! Ridiculous

Grin Grin Grin

Do you think a week’s notice will be enough for them to erect the barricades and build the guard towers?

A week's notice? so that means we have to go harassing next weekend?

I hope the weather breaks, I've already complained to Bee about expecting us to be 'seething with hate' in this weather, but going all the way to Northumbria to harass some kidults? - not a chance unless it's less than 20deg.Grin

SidewaysOtter · 12/07/2025 13:27

going all the way to Northumbria

That's a point I hadn't considered; I'm not sure I'll have enough energy for seething by the time I've schlepped that far. Couldn't they arrange their toddlers' jamboree somewhere a bit more central? Some people have no consideration <huffs>

You're offended by gay people Bee?

Dear old Bee, he's offended by most things so it seems.

Chris, seriously, please give yourself a break. You know perfectly well feminists don’t harass or intimidate their opponents. You know women aren’t going to disrupt the face painting or games. The people you warn will be rolling their eyes.

Whether you genuinely believe humans can change sex or not, you know trans identifying does not put people at risk. You are harming yourself with all this manufactured fear.

"You know perfectly well feminists don’t harass or intimidate their opponents. "

If you mean gender critical feminists then one may beg to differ. That's why there's a crowdfund a week for the latest one that somehow managed to get fired/charged/sued for harassing LGBT people or anyone who supports LGBT people?

Graham Linehan, the 2nd in command gender critical after JK Rowling, managed to get himself sued and charged. If you count the FT musical being rejected as being fired then he scored a hat trick with all 3.

"hat trick" that would have been the first clever thing you have said if you had actually done it on purpose

But, inexplicably, these women who bring these cases are WINNING! That rather suggests that they are the ones who have been wronged.

I know that you will never allow yourself to accept this but noone here hates trans people, not in the way that you "despise" us.

Oooh we have leaders now? Is that who we apply to to get the right wing money you keep insisting we are getting. Who knew? I mean, I thought stonewall getting money from the US government was weird so are the right wing funding both sides now? Does this mean you’re right wing @Christinapple ? Surely if you support stonewall, it means you’re a right winger just like us. Yay! Welcome to the crew. 😘😘😘

I'm just having a laugh at you lot, take a step back and see how ridiculous it is for a second.

Honestly, this forum is depressing for it's complete lack of insight, but it does have its highlights and you lot getting upset at breakfasts almost as funny when you dogpiled a Welsh health board for a change of signage 10 years previously or when you lose it because of optional pronoun requests.

Feel free to say hi on Bluesky, but just don't do the creepy thing where you appear out of the blue pretending that you're 'just concerned' - it's very obvious and just gets you a block.

None of us have posted on a support thread for trans widows though (and we support them). My contempt for any Transwoman who has the fucking audacity to post on there, knows no bounds.

So a course mate of mine used to be president of NSU many years ago and it’s run by students.

LGBTQ+ students involved in the SU have likely had meetings and decided this is what current students would like and appreciate.

Theres more details on the link: https://mynsu.co.uk/events/id/1521-pride-breakfast

As many students won’t have accommodation (eg uni halls) over summer, they’re nicely offering to use the SU as a meeting point to have breakfast, gather together and have even said the first 75 people get a free drinks token. It’s a nice and harmless event to celebrate Northern Pride weekend where there’s a lot of activities in the town.

It’s not harming anyone. If you don’t like it, don’t go?

Well if current students think it’s an ego show for a current leader in the union then that’s different - I’ve just seen the initial comments saying “why would anyone want to do ABC” when it’s usually students who’ve decided on the activities!

I thought the American far right was organising a coach to take us all there?

Might have misunderstood that...

Lioncub2020 · 13/07/2025 09:08

No real connection is there? Just because a Uni has a shit financial management doesn't mean it student union can't support LGB students. How much does providing a bit of toast actually cost?

MelodyMalone · 13/07/2025 09:12

Honestly seems far more has been made of this thread than necessary. OP remarked on money being spent on pride breakfasts when uni is skint. Others pointed out it's the union doing it not the uni. A few sarky comments made about face painting being childish. Nobody is enraged or threatening to disrupt this harmless student event.

"the gays are doing something, how do you think I can be offended by this?"

We have been informed, if not by you, Bee, by a visiting poster of similar persuasion, that Pride isn't for 'the gays' any more, it's for -'everybody except haters' if I remember rightly.

So we wouldn't assume that the organisers of, and participants in the face-painting, games and crafting at the Pride breakfast were lesbian or gay.

They could have been anybody, because that is who Pride is for - anybody and everybody.
With the exception of the wrong kind of lesbians, of course.

I think the reaction here was more about the 'kidultification' of universities than 'the gays' to borrow your own words - not a term we use about lesbian and gay people here - you have to admit that face-painting, games and crafting sounds more like primary school than uni!

If they are not living in halls over the summer where do you think they are living? They are not bivvying up under canvas on the Town Moor or perched in tree houses in Leazes Park.
