Think they’re taking the piss? Feel free to use faculties to change for the march & free breakfast meanwhile loads of staff being made redundant or taking severance pay! Ridiculous

Given the track record of posters on here who post about a person or event then go harass and abuse those people on social media/other websites or offline it's fair for anyone relevant to be given a tip-off of what to expect.

You have robust evidence for this claim, I assume?

Edited to add: Actually I agree with you to a certain extent. If AidaP is to be believed, he did go and harass lesbians in real life after reading about it on here. So yes, you are correct in that respect.

You're conflating two things - online criticism and offline abuse/harassment at events - but then given the amount of force-teaming that goes on with the TRA crowd I don't suppose I should be surprised.

Got any examples of people being abused at events via MN?

And what should the organisers "expect"? Some tutting and eye-rolling from passersby? Or is anything other than full fawning and active validation seen as "literal violence"?

It was only about a week ago someone here posted the Instagram profile of a random shop owner who said she didn't want bigots in her shop?

"Harassment and abuse" is making a personal choice not to patronise someone's shop now, is it?

Riiiight.....

So? Did anyone turn up to the shop with a sign saying she should be burned as a witch or beheaded? Was she hounded out of her livelihood by people in masks with flares? Was she physically assaulted?*

No. She got criticised online. Two very different things.

(*all of these things having been done by TRAs to gender critical women)

Someone posted the PUBLIC Instagram profile of someone who had said PUBLICLY that she didn't want "bigots" in her shop. PUBLIC information is fair game for people to comment on

Commenting on is one thing. 50 people going over to threaten, abuse and post "what is a woman" over and over is another.

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 11/07/2025 11:26

My irony meter is in overdrive here. Anyone else’s? Maybe it’s the heat.

By "going over" I assume you mean to Instagram? Just checking because you're not always clear in what you mean.

So lots of people posted "what is a woman" on her Instagram? After she wrote her PUBLIC inflammatory comment on Instagram? Big deal.

I could post you to thousands of accounts and profiles that have been viciously attacked by TRAs. The rabbit rescue is just one recent one that springs to mind.

Is this incitement to harass a University?

No. It may surprise you @Christinapple but some people are perfectly content to let other people have events without feeling the need to disrupt them and cause harassing other attendees. This may be a new concept to you, but trust me, it’s a thing. You may try it sometime?

Evidently tinapple is assuming that women behave in the same way as all the trans lobbyist masked protesters who rage and threaten physical and sexual violence whenever women try to meet and talk without male permission.

But it's fine - women just want men to stay out of women's spaces, sports, hospital wards etc. There might be a few sarcastic words about this event but nobody will ever turn up and protest / rage at the brekkie and face painting.

Honestly, stop judging women by your own standards.

I don't think reading comprehension is Chris's strong suit.

Admittedly, I have yet to find out what Chris's strong suit is, but I expect it will become apparent if we wait long enough.

Leaving aside Christinapple's predictable bollocks, a portion of the student union's income will come directly from the university.

It could be a new source of renewable - is there a dangerous byproduct though?

What track record?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 11/07/2025 12:40

MarieDeGournay · 11/07/2025 12:31

What track record?

Presumably thinking about AidaP? The man who on hearing about the lesbian group meeting decided they must go and harass the women - and clained to have done so afterwards.
That's the only poster I can think of who reads something on here and heads off to harass others?

How does one prepare for "meanies on Mumsnet are laughing at our facepainting session", Chris?

I believe support animals, blankets and snacks are involved.

MelodyMalone · 11/07/2025 12:54

My daughter's at uni (not this one) and it's all pretty normal... Students Union had face painting etc for St Patrick's Day and no doubt other things too.

All seems harmless.
