The company is always sparkling, the drinks are always sublime, and the cakes are mysteriously free from gluten, sugar, calories, and troublesome booze… not that you’d ever notice. 😏

Our enthusiastic team of gerbil waitstaff is ably supported by capybaras, quokkas, and other charming creatures who excel at their jobs while looking outrageously adorable.

You will find many things to laugh at - usually out loud - so take care not to spit out your tea. We are considering a petition for the return of the laugh emoji - just as soon as the AI gerbils learn how to spell.

Thanks Boily - weirdly the school uniform worn by Myfanwy was very similar to one I had when I went to grammar school at 11, including the hat!!

I'd have either been a very unhappy girl at your school, or constantly in trouble for tweaking the uniform to look like I was in a St Trinians film!

It was so tempting to go with the St Trinians look complete with a stripey tie that leant itself to being tied round the hat. Big trouble if staff caught you but big rambling grounds gave us some latitude at lunchtime. They changed the uniform soon after I started I think.

Joseph Mary Plunkett was a very famous Irishman. My dad and his brothers (born 1940s and 50s in Ireland) had Mary as their middle names. It was quite common then.

Evening all. I've been learning to crochet this last week, so less time for Mumsnetting 😂

I saw a mug with Marmots on in the charity shop today and immediately thought it belonged at the Bluestocking. Forgot to take a photo though 🤦‍♀️

What I'm on about is that last Saturday evening the county team defeated their opponents (by a strange coincidence we had the smallest congregation I've ever seen at the vigil Mass, I wonder where everyone else was?) with the result that they will be playing in the semi-final, against their ancient enemy. Kilkenny. The Cats. The county will be empty.
