Started to listen into this and the team are not keen on Baroness Faulkner

Sarah Owen completely out of her depth and making a total tool of herself.....like most Labour memebrs of the committe before her. Embarrassing!

She's supposed to be the Chair of the Equalities Committtee and yet she has not the faintest clue about the ruling, nor, evidently has she even read it.

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 11/06/2025 20:43

Just trying to understand the system.

MPs declare donations on the members register. Alongside the entry for e.g. personal contributions, there is often a reason for the donation e.g. to support women in tech initiative.

This tells us the input side of the ledger, the funds coming in.

Where is the balancing side of the ledger published? i.e. what the funds were actually spent on and how they advanced the initiative that they were donated towards. Perhaps some sort of indication on how effective the funds were?

Edit, spelling

No, the sheep in Wales are smart than the SM's. When it came to Cass all they did was 'note it', I expect all they've done with SC judgement is note it too.

I think a representative was asked recently, maybe in Westminster and said they were planning to follow the law. But I think that was immediately after, when all the captured were flailing around when no one knew how to react or what the TRA party line was going to be.

Just catching up with this, Sarah Owen is thick as mince isn't she?

She has the cocky arrogance of the previous chair as well unfortunately.

A powerful statement from the Baroness, but what an offensive response from the Chair. As one of the many people in government who have failed to protect women MP's and appointed public servants from the disgraceful activities of the activist's she's just trying to cover her arse pure and simple.
Awful, awful women.

KafkasScooter · 11/06/2025 21:06

I watched this earlier and wanted to scream. That WEC Chair was rude, conceited and hostile. Glad I left the Labour party when my MP, Rosie Duffield, was treated so badly. They don't care about women, so no longer get my monthly subscription and will no longer get my vote (Rosie will).

That whole committee hearing smacked of 'but what about the males' and the view that trans people have had their rights diminished made my blood boil. The Supreme Court made it clear that they never had these rights in the first place.

Baroness Faulkner and the CEO did brilliantly in the face of idiotic and uneducated tw@ts.

The fact that this argument is always about 'trans women's rights' rather than trans men proves that it's always about the males wants and feelings.

They know what a woman is.

Yes she is, and a coward too. She's no friend to women.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/06/2025 21:14

The lads on Reddit are excited. Not sure exactly what powers they imagine the WESC to have.

corlan · 11/06/2025 21:19

I've not heard of Sarah Owen before but she made an absolute fool of herself in that clip. Aggressively correcting others when you've got the facts wrong yourself is never impressive.

DworkinWasRight · 11/06/2025 21:26

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/06/2025 18:36

It was a particular highlight when she didn’t understand that the Supreme Court judgment covered everything sex related in the EA.

It’s almost unbelievable. She hasn’t even bothered to read the judgement, in preparation for a session whose entire purpose was asking questions about the implementation of the judgement. Astonishing.

KafkasScooter · 11/06/2025 21:26

Yes Owen came across as a complete arse.

Who's this one Christine?

I will guess that that’s my MP (unfortunately) - Christine Jardine, she’s been posting clips on Facebook.

BellissimoGecko · 11/06/2025 21:46

Christ on a bike. Sarah Owen is an absolute disgrace. What a rude, condescending, unprepared, uneducated idiot. She is no friend to women.

Which clips in particular is she posting?

DragonRunor · 11/06/2025 21:54

I wonder again whether there shouldn’t be some sort of competency test to stand as an mp; and some sort of knowledge test before you can be appointed to a committee. Basically most of the mps were just asking why the EHRC was writing such mean and nasty stuff, almost as if they hadn’t even bothered to read the judgement - they had certainly not made any attempt to understand the implications (obviously exempting Rosie and Rebecca, who were trying to bring some degree of sanity to proceedings)

Huge respect to Baroness Faulkener for her endless patience and professionalism

Pyjamatimenow · 11/06/2025 22:51

Horrified watching this

Sugarplumfairycakes1 · 11/06/2025 23:04

Watched this and am furious, upset and absolutely gob-smacked at the unprofessionalism and arrogance of the chair and majority of MPs. Rosie and Rebecca Paul seemed to be the only members who actually understood the judgement and centred women and girls. Appalling comments from the Chair and if I was there, wouldn't been able to stop myself interrupting to say I'm not a fecking CIS woman and it is offensive to call women a subset of their sex! My MP was one of the 'qhat about the men' and she is a lesbian....I despair

SionnachRuadh · 11/06/2025 23:13

There's nothing can be done about Christine Jardine, and most of the others I don't know, but Sarah Owen is supposed to be the chair of the committee.

You might have expected her to make a stab at reading the judgment, instead of giving the Bart Simpson book report.

LizzieSiddal · 11/06/2025 23:23

So the chair of the committee didn’t know the SCJ included “sports and toilets”??

I hope she absolutely throughly ashamed of her ignorance. She ought to resign immediately.

moto748e · 11/06/2025 23:29

She was appalling. Condescending, rude, ignorant. Baroness Falkner spoke so well, and from the heart too, and that was how she was treated?

Unijourney · 11/06/2025 23:45

Who or how is Sarah Owens appointed? Can we write to someone in Labour as she can't be allowed to get away with being so ignorant whilst also being arrogant. I was genuinely stunned by her approach and if she wasn't a MP but in a business she would be fired or put on a PIP for her performance today.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/06/2025 23:52

She’s merely the most recent terrible chair of this committee pushing the TRA agenda.
