Call for women to support trans rights

LeftieRightsHoarder · 08/06/2025 12:26

I had an email this morning asking me to sign a petition about violence against women, and support for transpeople.

It included genuine stats about the high rate of violence against women. But it insisted that ‘cis’ men were to blame (disproved by Ministry of Justice stats that show transwomen are more likely than other men to be in prison for sexual offences), and that transpeople were the biggest victims.

It included all the usual obfuscation, eg high murder rate (yes, among South American trans-identifying male prostitutes, tragic but there’s nothing we can do from here) and high suicide rate if not enabled to transition (disproved by research). Also the usual lies, eg that trans people are denied healthcare, housing, and employment (I don’t know if this happens in other countries, but would be illegal in the UK).

It of course blamed feminists for allowing media and authorities to ‘demonise’ trans people.

Sad to see the real scandal of violence against women being used to try to guilt-trip us against defending our single-sex rights.

They do think they are denied healthcare because people are not blindly going along with their transing demands for young children.

I have two autistic children/young adults and in the “high” functioning autistic children being trans was absolutely rampant and for them they feel people saying no to any of these “requirements to make trans lives better” is abusive towards them.

You hear the same cognitive distortions over and again from them based on rigidity and lack of theory of mind to fully engage with other people’s perspective and then bam loads of them have grown out of it by 16/17/18 like it never happened. I just nod and eye roll along with it with their friends like I did with their older sibling’s friends. It is all so serious and morally superior and necessary with them, the moral injustice of our era, until then one day out of nowhere it is not and they quietly go back to real life. The killer is when they grow out of it they don’t even acknowledge the urgency and adamancy of their previous perspective was flawed. They learn nothing from it.

I am so relieved the grown ups with the ability to say no are back in the room finally.

CowboyJoanna · 08/06/2025 12:41

"Trans rights" already exist. Men in dresses can still get access to food, the same healthcare as anyone else, jobs, they can vote.
But what they really mean by that petition is giving men the rights to legally mingle with women in women-only spaces and coerce lesbians into having sex with them. You're a very strong person for saying no and i hope everyone at your workplace wakes up and sees the truth

Bluebootsgreenboots · 08/06/2025 12:47

Who was the email from @LeftieRightsHoarder ?

NPET · 08/06/2025 13:04

Why can't they understand that I - and I'm sure 95% of women - are not against transpeople having the same rights as us, PROVIDED those rights don't restrict OUR rights as women?

WarriorN · 08/06/2025 13:07

The classic wolf herding the sheep strategy they’ve been using for decades. Just getting a bit more desperate now

ItisntOver · 08/06/2025 13:08

Is it from a union, professional organisation or a social group?

DragonRunor · 08/06/2025 13:38

Yes, I’d like to know who it’s from too. Sounds like they need lots of emails pointing out the errors in their analysis

IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta · 08/06/2025 13:47

Whatever the opinions or worrhiness of the causes, they're conflating two issues in one petition - unless they're assuming that the only 'women' who matter are the male ones and they haven't even given a moment's thought to the actual female women.

They've clearly designed it that way deliberately, though, to catch you out. They're going from a very narrow paradigm - one that suits their specific agenda - and trying to get you to either agree wholeheartedly or otherwise expose yourself as a 'bigot' (as they would no-doubt see it).

LeftieRightsHoarder · 08/06/2025 13:51

Thanks for the compliment, Joanna, which I pass on to those who deserve it! No, luckily this was from one of the mailing lists I’m on, Change.org. I haven’t yet had anything from a source that could cause trouble for me, and I admire those who stand up to it. Actually I’ve had a few irritating petitions like this from Change.org, though also some sensible ones so I haven’t unsubscribed.

It was from a group called ‘Not in Our Name: women in support of the trans+ community’. They identify themselves as ‘cisgender women’. Unfortunately I can’t send a link as you can’t click from the email to their webpage without automatically signing the petition.

I wondered how they had obtained your contact details unless it were via a group or mailing lists.

It sounds a little as if it’s an an abuse of GDPR if it’s professional. Or one of those things if it’s an informal WhatsApp etc.

Yes, exactly. One of their demands is Enough scapegoating of trans women by politicians who refuse to confront male violence.
There’s no connection between the two issues. Linking them like that is an attempt to make trans-identifying men’s demands look as important as women’s need for physical safety.

I suppose it makes a change from the usual brain-boggling demands for women to let men (definition 1) into women’s single-sex spaces because men (definition 2) can be violent.

  • Definition 1= men who say they are women, or might be, or might not be big it’s none of your business.
  • Definition 2 = any man.

A trans colleague sent me this at work. I've completely ignored it. He told me it was for cis women to show support for transwomen. Part of me wanted to say "did you assume my gender?" But frankly I can't even be arsed with that

anyolddinosaur · 08/06/2025 15:08

The group was founded by Caroline Litman, author and mother of trans woman Alice Litman, who sadly took her own life in May 2022, aged just 20. There was a long waiting list to be seen at NHS gender clinics so Litman's parents contacted Michael Webberley, a co-founder of Gender GP who then met Litman in September 2019. GenderGP later prescribed wrong sex hormones to Litman in April 2020.

You can understand why the mother would double down on this. Change.org sends you petitions it thinks may interest you, IME they dont, I unsubscribed.

RubyTrees · 08/06/2025 16:07

I also received this email earlier today. I’ve signed petitions in the past mainly to do with disability issues but the word “cis” gives me the rage so I’ve unsubscribed.

LeftieRightsHoarder · 08/06/2025 16:25

Huge sympathy for Caroline and Alice Litman. I hope the doctors who prescribe wrong-sex hormones to troubled adolescents all get struck off.

He also assumed that you believe in gender over sex and support his fantasy beliefs and politics.

There is no space to say 'actually I disagree'. This is why it is inappropriate to be sharing political things like this at work with colleagues.

Shades of anti-suffragists campaigning against women having the vote 🙄

Cisgender …???

WOMEN…….. 😩

Why does it always only go one way?

Why are women expected to show support for transwomen but transwomen aren't expected to show support to women by respecting their single-sex spaces, services, sports and other measures put in place for women - things that men either already have equivalent provision for or don't actually need?

Very very sad to hear about her son Sad
But surely his suicide shouldve been a wakeup call that...transgenderism is very dangerous for young peoples mental health?

Thats why i dont believe in the petition, because we dont want other vulnerable gay lesbian and autistic young people to be brainwashed into thinking theyre born in the wrong body because they dont fit the mould

FranticFrankie · 08/06/2025 19:12

I also had this email this morning. Didn't it say something about false feminism?
And the usual message re cis etc. I've unsubscribed from change as I get so many from other sources too.
A few that had signed left messages in the usual vein.

Very sad story regarding about he child that died, poor child and poor family

Women don't seem to matter unless someone wants your signature

ArabellaScott · 09/06/2025 06:45

That's the group that headline with 'Nor in Our Name ' but had used 'Not in Your Name' in the neodymium of the text.

Gish galloping bullshit is tedious to rebut.
