Are toilets still allowed to be cleaned by members of the opposite sex?

PoisedRubyLion · 27/05/2025 15:50

I see signs saying toilets may be cleaned by members of the opposite sex in a lot of places. Is this allowed after the supreme court ruling? If a male cleaner was in there it would be a mixed sex space.

I'm just glad that the Supreme Court banned women who're pregnant with a male foetus from female spaces. Thank you Lord Justices for your clarity.

I sincerely hope you are joking! Very difficult to tell on this thread

Datun · 30/05/2025 12:25

I took that as a joke.

Given how nailing down anything that could possibly be male within 500 yards is the argument du jour

If you want an absurd refutation of an absurd suggestion then you could point out that a foetus is not a person in English law.

Good grief - this is still going. Still - it demonstrates the fury of men who've finally been told to fuck off oiut of spaces where women are undressed vulnerable. They're seething - and poor things - only have baby boys and male toilet cleaners as weapons to force women to obey. 😂

I love these TRA parodies. Very good, madam.

Trans women and men who aren't trans are equally likely to have tried to get a job with access to women's loos in order to abuse women (see the examples upthread of the two male cleaners who placed cameras in women's space). In general we rely on the extra protections of the process of employment and the ties that employment brings to mitigate the risk. You are right that risk for women is still increased when men, whether trans identified or not, clean women's public toilets, but since it is logistically difficult to have same sex staff in many cases and such a requirement would probably lead to fewer toilets, it's not something that women have campaigned on. Most companies use a "Male Cleaners" sign to warn women so they can check.

There would be no particular point in insisting on a "Trans Cleaners" sign if the cleaner happened to be a trans, because women aren't concerned about trans people being in their toilets, they're concerned about men. A male cleaners sign conveys the risk clearly and is applicable regardless of a man's gender identity.

They aren’t concerned about trans people in the toilets, they are only concerned about men?

Sorry, what? I thought half of the nation were currently terrified by trans folk in the toilet? I thought that was the entire issue? I didn’t realise it was just exclusively men, and didn’t realise how many men were just waltzing into the loos. Never seen one, personally?

Annoyedone · 30/05/2025 13:30

@deadpantrashcan how do you know? Did you just assume someone who looks like a man was a man? How transphobic! Did you just assume their gender? Tut tut.

All men in the women's toilets are men!

Their self perception is irrelevant.

Is this embarrassment of a thread still lurching on?

What about women using the loo when they've just won a (male) goldfish in a plastic bag from the village fete, eh?

I’m just pointing out that the supreme court ruling was very clear. If a male is in a female space it becomes mixed sex and any person can use it. Those were the supreme courts words.

Don't be silly they arnt using the toilet they are cleaning it

How can you tell it's male? Do you have to do a cheek swab? Is this what women really want. Cheek swabs for goldfish in their toilets?

Annoyedone · 30/05/2025 14:02

@PoisedRubyLion soif we let any male use a space and it’s become mixed sex, how would that help transwomen? If they’ve going onto the ladies as they’re scared of using the men’s, surely they’d be just as vulnerable in a mixed sex space. If not, then thst kind of blows the argument for them to access women’s spaces out of the water doesn’t it? If they’re not in danger in a mixed sex space, why would they be in danger in a male space?

The answer is still 'yes' after 20 pages.

20 pages of 'yes' - even Molly Bloom only managed to keep it going for about 8 lines!

I remember reading that Henry VIII got lamb and chicken into the fish category too, for fasting day purposes.
So, inspiration there for any more complete overreaching of reality.
People ate beavers? 😥

Yep, people ate beavers.

AI reports that "Most describe beaver meat as having a mild, gamey flavor that is often compared to beef, venison, or even wild duck.". I'd try it, assuming it wasn't a rare and special beaver, killed just for my benefit.

Oh blimey.

Does that mean we have to add it to the list then?

Fuck! All because women and girls should be able to have single sex toilets.

Are we adding that one on the list too?

What about a female person who needs an assistance dog? Is an argument to be made about excluding male assistance dogs too?

I think that would be an interesting and instructive training session.

Helleofabore · 30/05/2025 14:54

By the way, I do think there is a good discussion to be had about male cleaners in female toilets while the toilets are open for use.

I am not sure though that was the intention of the thread, which has now jumped the shark.

You’re just regurgitating TRA rhetoric here, not summarizing the sex realist side of the argument.

This is a fight for women’s rights not an anti-trans movement. Until you stop centering yourself in this and listen to what we’re saying you won’t have clue, as you constantly demonstrate.

I thought it was about taking goldfish into the Ladies. Now someone's going to have to do a genital check on a shark? They've really upskilled the cleaner's job.
