Please help me remember: a consultation, Stonewall explained how to complete it correctly

I’m trying to give someone an idea of the ways Stonewall has been involved with my employer.

Something I can not find information on is something that happened pre-covid. There was a (government) consultation and Stonewall where brought in by the employer to help everyone complete the consultation correctly. There were pop up Stonewall areas at a few of our buildings and there were intranet coms. I can no longer find the coms.

At the time I mentioned that it seemed inappropriate for an employer to be suggesting what its employees think and how they act. I was told that had the employer was trying to get Stonewall Brownie Points (I paraphrase) their actions were legitimate.

Any idea what this could have been? Thanks

Could it be the Stonewall Diversity scheme where your employer was trying to climb their rankings?

The Nolan Investigates series re Stonewall available on BBC Sounds might have some clues if have time to listen

There was a consultation in 2018 (July to October I think) about reforming the GRA. It was this where Maya F started asking questions. Stonewall had a link to their website with advice on filling it in. However, other organisations also did too.

I was thinking the same Justme56

IIRC both FPFW and WPUK also had guidelines with explanations as to why they were answering the way they did on their websites. From memory, I read both of those guides and then wrote my own responses. I don't recall whether it was meant to be a cut and paste job.

Olly from PopNOlly did a vid to tell kids to get their parents to fill in the consultation. I seem to remember Dr Ranj doing one too.

@justme @BarbieBrightSide I think that’s it, thank you. Lovely.

I’ll listen to Nolan on BBC Sounds anyway. Thanks.

Great, thanks @Harassedevictee thats them.

Where as there were other agencies who gave suggestions of how to complete the consultation, Stonewall was the only one that the employer referenced. It was the only one that had access to the employers buildings and showed employees how to complete the consultation correctly.

My suggestion is to Google “national archives (name if university) historical website”

I know for government departments they have past iterations of websites so it’s worth a try.

ThisIsMyGCname · 20/05/2025 20:12

I shall do that, thanks. Although I’m pretty sure the info was on internal comms rather than the public website but intersting anyway.

National Archives have both external and internal intranets.

ThisIsMyGCname · 21/05/2025 13:09

They do!

They do!

I think they do for Civil Service depts.

ThisIsMyGCname · 21/05/2025 21:27

I couldn’t find their inter or intranet! But it’s fine, I’ve got what I need. Although it would have been interstellar to see some of the photos that have been taken down.

Thanks @Manderleyagain , I’m having a look through those threads and it’s helpful in remembering what went on.
