It’s been a while since I last saw everyone!

Welcome to everyone, regulars, lurkers, newly ventured in.

A place for women to discuss whatever takes their fancy, where the bar staff are attentive gerbils, Rosy the Red Panda is available for cuddles and all sweet things have no calories and all alcohol leaves the drinker slightly merry and hangover-free.

The Bluestocking Women's Pub, where brains can exist in a single state | Mumsnet

Welcome all. The booze here is minimally intoxicating, the food is calorie free and the staff are warm and cuddly. And if the thread title sounds nons...

I want an "ODFOD" react button, because I am a miserable whatsit.

Noted. Adios.

Magpiecomplex · 26/05/2025 09:48

Morning all. What a fine bank holiday this is going to be. I can't even work out which way up to hold my pen!

I hope all those gerbils get full marks for the hot chocolate taster menu.

Regular small energy bursts, I reckon. Better than infrequent larger doses!

FuzzyPuffling · 26/05/2025 09:55

There's an orange one, a mocha one, a Baileys one, a rum one....

? is this about a couple of posts a while ago about wished-for reaction buttons like 😨and Fuzzy wanted a ODFOD [what's the 2nd D for?] one because she was feeling miserable?

Maybe your pen has a rubby-outy bit at the top? It looks like one o' they clicky pens, so it might be rubby-outy as well.Grin

I thought maybe one end was for scratching my head in puzzlement over some of the more creative misspellings.

I think the second D is "dear"? Not sure what happened here, maybe Shedmistress conflated two of Fuzzy's posts and thought the ODFOD was a personal comment.

FuzzyPuffling · 26/05/2025 10:24

These are my current favourite pens.

FuzzyPuffling · 26/05/2025 10:25

Better with a picture...

Mind if I take a quiet seat in the corner where I can lean my crutches against the wall?

FuzzyPuffling · 26/05/2025 10:27

Hello Exit and welcome. A bar gerbil will be round to you straight away with a soothing drink of your choice.

That explains the end 'D' - I'd never have guessed!

I do hope Shedmistress didn't think it was a personal comment, I'm sure it wasn't. it's not our style to tell other Stockingers to FO, DGrin

We might, in a moment of unforgiveable nastiness that we would instantly regret, bribe a gerbil to 'accidentally' serve Lemon Drizzle cake to people who hate it, but we wouldn't tell them to FO, Shedmistress, so if that is what it felt like please amend the Adios to Hasta ProntoSmile

FuzzyPuffling · 26/05/2025 10:31

I would never, ever tell another Bluestockinger to FO. Not my style.

I blooming love lemon drizzle cake though.

Glad you got there first Fuzzy, I was trying to decide if @ExitPursuedByABare should be Exit or Bare!

Welcome Exit. (That sounds weird). Feel free to ignore my mutterings and the occasional fit of giggles, I find myself talking to my students while marking their work, even though they aren't there.

Of course not Fuzzy - I can't think why anyone would think that, but just in case Shedmistress did, and I'm trying to 'put the tin lid' on the idea ASAPSmile

FuzzyPuffling · 26/05/2025 10:35

I feel Exit might feature in some AI pictures. There must be comedy value in bare bears running about?

Are you actively trying to find me displacement activities, Fuzzy?!

FuzzyPuffling · 26/05/2025 10:47

Me?
No no no no no
Yes.

Magpiecomplex · 26/05/2025 11:23

Not very comedic, I'm afraid. And while the bear is technically bare, it's a bit of a non-event. Sorry!

In other news, I have now finished the easiest bit of marking. Only another eleventy gazillion bits to go.

That's a terrifying bear, Magpie! I feel the need to post a Right of Reply on behalf of the Cuddly Tendency of the Ursine Community.

Welcome Exit, you're only in the door and you're providing material for us to have fun with already - you'll fit right inWink

When I first started teaching I had a girl in my tutor group whose parents were both professors of philosophy and described as “eccentric”. She became a nun.

@inkymoose has drawn a perfect likeness. I’m taken back almost 50 years.

Magpiecomplex · 26/05/2025 12:03

Blimey, imagine having two professors of philosophy as your parents... Sod becoming a nun, I think I'd go full hermit!

Disclaimer, one of my DC is currently studying philosophy and is very good at it, but he's an incorrigible smartarse and always has been. Give me a nice spreadsheet any day.
