Something just struck me about JKR and her attitude. Imagine if you will a parallel universe in which JKR is a transwoman ( I said imagine it, just stick with me) Transwomen in this parallel universe are very unhappy because among other things women don’t want them in their toilets or changing rooms, so what happens?
They throw hissy fits, claim to be the most marginalised group in society, threaten women with rape and violence, misunderstand basic biology on purpose, take off their tops on a sunny day in Scotland and act like spoilt little boys who want to eat the cake and then spit on the left overs so no one else can eat it.
or
They stand behind Transwoman JKR who says, listen guys, if we work together, raise funds ( I can help here but everyone has to do their bit just like women did in the seventies when they built dv refuges with the proceeds of jumble sales, raffles and personal contributions) , lobby politely but firmly for separate spaces , respect women , stop stealing womens language , jobs, places on shortlists, opportunities in sport etc ie behave like human beings , then we will get somewhere.
She would have sorted all this crap out within months, and stopped all the “ let’s drug and mutilate confused children” malarkey to boot.
Because, in this universe, where JKR is a woman thank the goddesses of the world, she has shown how collaboration, rational discussion, respect for other people and the truth ,combined with a generosity of spirit and an open heart can produce results.
