Sad news: we need to boycott Ben and Jerry’s

Well, you don’t have to, but you should:

Also it’s so embarrasing that their comms team have misunderstood the ruling. No one’s rights have been stripped away. The Supreme Court didn’t “rule on trans rights”.

What an embarrassment for Ben and Jerry’s. Added to the boycott list

Ben and Jerry's is ridiculously expensive.

I don't know why you'd still be eating it in order to boycott it!

Plenty of alternatives available

I cringe when companies try to be right on because they end up looking dumb.

Makes me nostalgic for the good old days when they were nothing but money grabbing bastards.

At least you knew where you were

Leafstamp · 13/05/2025 21:25

Glad to see this thread here. I won't be buying.

DrDameKatyDeniseInExile · 13/05/2025 21:31

Apologies for anyone it offends but Ben and Jerry’s is shit food that is bad for you and I already don’t eat that kind of stuff. The Good Law Project though - awww still managing to grift their way through the hard earnt money of people who probably can’t afford it. The shysters.

They are still money grabbing bastards behind their cynical veneer of pretending to be social justice warriors. Money still talks and today’s (younger?) consumers seem to lap it up. Hopefully, the tide will turn one day. One can dream.

There is much better ice cream out there.

Ben & Jerry's entered the ice cream market at a time when there were very few "premium" ice cream options, and became popular because most other ice cream at that point was crap.

Now we have a whole load of better options. Ben & Jerry's has been coasting on its brand name for some time now and it's probably time for the bubble to burst.

Yes this is so true. Their ice cream is full of crap. And so are they.

I was in Waitrose by the sandwich meal deal fridge & 2 young trans identifying males were choosing their drink - one was asking the other to avoid 'that' because of the 'trans boycott'.

I've been trying to figure out what is was - hoping it's something tasty that I can enjoy.

It was the fizzy drinks, energy drinks, iced coffees side (not the juices, smoothies or kombucha/health drinks which are in a different fridge)

Anyone any ideas?

ThatCyanCat · 13/05/2025 22:07

I stopped buying them ages ago, they're shite.

Not sure, but in the world of iced coffee drinks Costa & Starbucks both tried to lure the LGBTQIA+ £ with promotional stuff - maybe there was backlash?

You are so right. What they said shows so little understanding of what the ruling was about that it is embarrassing for their image.

I think it might have been one of those 2 as both were on the shelf in question.

Interesting as both of those companies regularly feature on here & I've struggled to get past the Starbucks/mermaids stuff.

These companies will end up with a problem if they're getting boycotted from all directions.

Here's an amusing example of their virtue signaling backfiring from a couple of years ago:

Colin Wynter KC

I have seen references to a post, purportedly from Ben & Jerry's, in which it is stated that the Law Project people "are legally challenging" the SC judgment.
No one, neither God nor Beelzebub, can "challenge" an SC judgment.
Any "challenge" can only be to UK govt for its laws.

Funnelling money to GLP actually could work out ok given their success rate in 8 Trans cases is 0.

BlueLimes · 14/05/2025 06:51

Would be good to have a thread listing the brands to avoid.

TurtlesDoNotPetsMake · 14/05/2025 07:00

Already boycott them due to the unbelievable abuse cows endure. Rape- forced pregnancy- steal calf- murder calf- repeat until their body gives out, then shipped to a slaughtere house. Only animals, yes, but still female.

Myblueclematis · 14/05/2025 07:06

I've never even tasted Ben and Jerry's, the price alone put me off.

I'll stick to Aldi and Lidl's fancier ice cream, cheaper and I bet it's nicer than B&J's too.

CurlewKate · 17/05/2025 09:28

Hmm. So sound on Palestine though. And prepared to walk the walk.
