Content warning: the most offensive, garbled, incoherent, bullshit I've read in a while. Illustrated with pictures from Buchenwald.

The Orkney Times equates the Supreme Court judgement with fascism.

'On Monday, 21 April, The Orkney News, reported on the demonstration which had taken place the day before where those concerned about the Supreme Court judgment and the impact it will have on Transgender issues met together in Kirkwall. It should come as no surprise to anyone paying attention to the drift into Fascism in the USA that Trans people are feeling very vulnerable, not just in the States, but here too. Reading many of the comments from those who supported the successful appeal to the Supreme Court, they illustrate the divisive nature of the discussions around gender and identity in Scotland. This is the intolerance which sows the seeds of fascism.'

Who the fuck thinks this is okay?

First they came for….

Wondering now how far back you could date the trans glomming onto Nazi persecution. I think like 'two-spirit' it's probably pretty recent, and coming from similar circles - bet you couldn't find any references pre 1990s.

Just trying to save people some embarrassment when doing a complaint.

You are the one who should be embarrassed, SugarandSpiceandAllThingsNaice, you seem to be unfamiliar with lesbian and gay history.

The Pink Triangle was not worn by 'LGBT' people, impossible, as the 'T' meaning transgender wouldn't come into existence until many decades later.
The Pink Triangle was work by gay men only.
Lesbians, who were not targeted as a group as gay men were, and were made wear the Black 'Asozial' Triangle.

So not L, for ideological reasons, not B because they presumably didn't care that much about them, not T because it hadn't been invented - just the G for gay men who were the ones who wore the Pink Triangle.

The use of this kind of image of any Holocaust victim to illustrate extremist views about a decision of the UK Supreme Court is despicable, and historical accuracy is irrelevant.

TheOtherRaven · 23/04/2025 21:14

That's about the height of self obsessed egotism, too much privilege and unfortunately probably a sexual enjoyment of negative attention and people telling them off because why else would anyone do this?

No. Men miffed that they can no longer invade women's spaces are not suffering as the victims of Buchenwald did.

"A woman of independent mind" is the author!

Any bets it’s a man?

Edited

That's quite the claim to know exactly who the prisoners were. Where's your source for that?

PaterPower · 23/04/2025 21:48

How would you know that this photo even depicts homosexual men (very, VERY, unlikely to be anyone in that group who would even have described themselves as ‘transexual’ let alone as ‘trans,’ so not all that relevant to the Orkney News piece anyway)?

Then you have the fact that Buchenwald housed many thousands of Jews, as well as political prisoners, resistance fighters and men (and much later women) that the Nazi Party described as “workshy.”

This picture could have representatives of some, or all, of those categories of victims. I very much doubt you’d be able to tell, given they all seem to be shirtless.

It’s a crass and insulting choice, however you cut it.

“Transportations from Dachau Concentration Camp arrived at Buchenwald in 1938, predominantly bringing Jewish people. Following the November Pogrom (Kristallnacht) in 1938, almost 10,000 Jewish people were sent to Buchenwald. At the outbreak of the Second World War, 8,500 men were deported to the camp, mostly of Czech, Polish or Gypsy descent. In 1943, French prisoners were deported to Buchenwald from the Compiègne Transit Camp. The majority of people who arrived from this camp were part of the French resistance movement.”

I've made a mistake - it's the Orkney News, not the Times.

'Orkney News Ltd is a community based, not for profit online newspaper. It is free to view. It aims to provide reliable factual news and to give a voice to those who would otherwise go unheard'

Unsure, but could all be the work of one person.

The company has 5 directors listed on Companies House

ArabellaScott · 23/04/2025 22:05

It's a not for profit limited company.

Sorry, I'm not coherent. This has really upset me.

I find this calling women who advocate for women's rights fascists just beyond the pale. How dare they. It's throwing women, gay people, all the victims of the Holocaust on a bonfire to warm their self righteous hands.

I’m sorry, Arabella. It is bloody awful and the people drawing parallels between the reinforcement of women’s boundaries and actual fascism not only don’t know their history, but neither do they have any fucking decency.

spannasaurus · 23/04/2025 22:14

Self described as a not for profit company but as they are not a charity there's nothing to prevent them making a profit and paying that to the guarantors

Although I've looked at their accounts and I doubt if they are making any profits

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 23/04/2025 22:26

Is this covered under the new Online Safety Act? If we're all finding the piece offensive, it can be reported here:

AstonScrapingsNameChange · 23/04/2025 22:55

Jaw droppingly offensive.

As is the insistence of 'LGBT' holocaust victims, for reasons described above.

Just. Fuck. Off!

Rewriting holocaust history should be seen as akin to holocaust denial. It's minimising what happened to the real victims.

Whereismyjoiedevivre · 23/04/2025 23:02

How DARE they use these images like this? I’m seething.

Who'd have thunk that the Northern Isles were a hotbed of transactivism 🙄

Someone needs to be reined in, that's dreadful.

I'm just thinking...kilts...

I can’t get find it now but Malcolm Clark did a thread on X about there being a fair number of cross-dressing Nazis.

Was it this one? https://x.com/TwisterFilm/status/1662967081191497728

And there is a whole photography book by Martin Dammann called Soldier Studies: Cross-Dressing in der Wehrmacht on Nazis soldiers who took photos of themselves dressed as women.

That is utterly deranged. Some people have totally lost touch with what is reasonable and sane.

And for the unreasonable person on here defending this - the Germans had little issue with ’trans’ - they targeted gay so if gay happened also to be a cross dresser who wasn’t in with the people in charge they were incarcerated.

You're absolutely right.
Also, and what is more troubling, is that they are co-opting the worst crime against humanity to bolster their victim status.
Jewish people don't constantly do this, nor Gypsies, those with disabilities etc. 1 in every 5 Polish people were murdered, are they using that experience as a nation?

Greyskybluesky · 24/04/2025 08:46

I'm expecting the usual poster to flutter by any time now to tell us all about the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft...

DeanElderberry · 24/04/2025 11:13

Has anyone got the link to the strong historical evidence that the records and library fire was started by Nazis who didn't want their case studies made public? I can do the bit about the surgeon going on to work for the Nazis doing human experiments on prisoners.

Apart from the monstrous disrespect and cheap vulgarity of comparing anything except the Holocaust to the Holocaust, they are so ignorant of history.

Just to show that not all the Islands are captured and lovely reference from Marion to the role that Mumsnet played:

I should just C&P the thing I keep wanting to type on so many of these threads - that there is no basement to the lows that The Right Side of History will stoop to.

Women calling men 'men' have had visits from the police, and 'non-crime hate incidents' recorded against them, but somebody publishing clearly horrific and offensive material like this..... anything??
