The original thread has been deleted for “breaking Mumsnet guidelines”. Not sure why but possibly “misgendering” or possibly making it too easy to find the crowdfund @mumsnet it would be good if you could let us know so this thread can stay up. Do we have to pretend that the Claimant is female?

I googled Blair.

Per Manchester Met: "Dr Hamilton is at the forefront of research exploring the impact of gender-affirmative endocrine care on the athletic performance of transgender athletes."

Per Uni of Brighton: "Introducing Blair Hamilton, a trailblazer in the world of sports research at the University of Brighton's School of Sport and Health Sciences."

Presumably there aren't too many people researching this stuff (who would be acceptable to RMW)?

But Blair seemed to be backing away from calling themselves an expert.

CatProcrastinator1 · 10/04/2025 12:07

Don't forget Hamilton was a lead researcher on on IOC funded report so I suppose had the IOC's ear. Trans athlete study concludes blanket bans in sports are a mistake

According to BH, TW (trans identified males) relative strength is generally less than women.

Why is a geologist appearing as the expert scientific witness on human bodies?

Listen out for a “We’re all made of minerals” attempt at humour.

I am sometimes surprised at who is accepted as an expert witness in Employment Tribunals. Or times when judges need one such as the bizarre exchanges with Peggie’s manager that ended with the judge saying it wasn’t reasonable to expect a nurse to know. Or I hallucinated that entire section about whether a haircut altered your chromosome s etc.

CriticalCondition · 10/04/2025 12:11

BH agreed skeletal size in transwomen is not changed by hormone therapy.

But went on to say that relative strength of transwomen is 'less than ciswomen'

The judge paused the witness at that point so he could write it down. BH offered to reiterate. The judge said, no, I understood.

Hang on, so still having higher levels of testosterone than nearly all women, and also having been through male puberty, Blair is still weaker than me?

Yup. I do hope Counsel will explode this.

Cailleach1 · 10/04/2025 12:15

How on earth is that fellow sitting there giving ‘expert’ opinions like this?

CriticalCondition · 10/04/2025 12:16

Damn autocorrect. Explore it. Though explode works too.

I like explode.

Rightsraptor · 10/04/2025 12:17

The crowdfunder now stands at approximately £12.5k

CriticalCondition · 10/04/2025 12:21

BH acknowledges that in absolute terms transwomen are still stronger than 'cis'women. But relatively they are weaker.

Yes. It makes no sense.

Cailleach1 · 10/04/2025 12:22

There are some odd calculations going on here.

I've read it several times and still have no idea what he means. Or why he thinks the judge will find it a good addition to HH's case.

If they carry on shooting themselves in the foot like this they'll have no toes left by the end of the day.

Cailleach1 · 10/04/2025 12:29

Is this ‘data’ from where a male who claims to be a woman rocks up and says ‘Oh, I am so feeble now, you wouldn’t believe it’. ‘I can’t lift anything a man could’. Knowing this was ‘research’ which would be used to say that trans identified males should be allowed into women’s sports. Rock solid.

CriticalCondition · 10/04/2025 12:29

Spectrum. Are we doing shots?

CriticalCondition · 10/04/2025 12:32

RMW asking BH for evidence to support assertion that TW end up with lower relative strength than ciswomen.

Why is a geologist appearing as the expert scientific witness on human bodies?

BH said that his was the only study published on the effects of hormones on male sporting performance so I assume that is his experience

CriticalCondition · 10/04/2025 12:34

BH says it's to do with the equation of higher fat mass in TW with higher body weight.

I think.

But i thought Harper did that. Could be wrong though.

Chrysanthemum5 · 10/04/2025 12:35

He seemed to imply that was a PhD study and only had one participant (the cyclist) so his study was much better.

He would say that, wouldn't he.

Signalbox · 10/04/2025 12:37

Someone said it upthread but it’s so jarring having the defence and the judge use trans ideological language and it’s not helping their case.

I wonder who Lynne Pinches legal team are. Hopefully NC is involved.

As an aside the judgement in the FWS case will be handed down on the 16th April. That is the one saying what a woman is

Cailleach1 · 10/04/2025 12:40

Just taking a step back from this bunkum, I’m not sure how many TW take hormones anyway. You don’t need to even for a GRC.

It is just straight up male figures then.
