And there will be tension. Liberal Voice for Women have a stall, but there are several motions proposed that push gender ideology, including one to promote self ID. How very 2018.

It's called a privileged middle class bubble with no contact and no wish to engage with anyone outside that bubble.

They don't understand why not everyone wants to be just like them.

Their values are the correct values.

It's really very depressing. And that's why they don't like dissent. "Why can't we all get on".

They are the managers and the educators. They are the civil service. They all have professional jobs and look like geography teachers.

So true! I work with people in that milieu and they are exactly like that. Most of them are never anywhere near the actual public they are meant to work on behalf of

Slothtoes · 24/03/2025 13:10

I don’t disagree with the typology but also there are sexist authoritarian men everywhere. I have a lot of respect for the pro woman SEEN network in the civil service. Lots of public facing work is done by civil servants, eg job centre staff. Jobcentre Plus is part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). When the civil service is cut by 15% then we will have a fall in public services we will really notice.

I have respect for women working against genderist sexism in their work environment or their political parties whatever the employer or political party. Gender identity politics is an ‘everywhere’ politics, because of its roots in misogyny and male sexual entitlement. That’s why it’s been so successful as an ideology.

If the Lib Dems want to continue to be utterly unelectable, that's on them!

They got 72 seats at the GE last year, with 63 new wins.

The general public doesn't realise how batshit they are on gender ideology, because the MSM won't ever mention it. The "anyone but the Tories" voters who couldn't bring themselves to put their cross by the Labour candidate chose the Lib Dems instead.

This, unfortunately.

They still have a reputation for being sane and centrist, mainly because they get so little airtime that most people haven't realised how batshit they now are.

Peregrina · 26/03/2025 11:49

I think here we have to start pushing strongly for the word Sex to be reinstated.
The GMC can start with recording the sex of doctors etc.. Implement single sex changing rooms every time, so that 'gender' is as irrelevant as say splitting changing rooms by religious belief. Eventually Gender Id will wither on the vine.

There were always cross dressers and transexuals, and most of us weren't affected by it.

'...we need to find ways to include trans and non binary people in sport and that starts with ensuring their identities are formally recognised by the law – which will then hopefully prevent regressive sports governing bodies and regressive leading sports commentators in supporting gender critical views which though protected in terms of belief in the equality act (something we need to campaign to remove) – do not trump or outweigh “gender reassignment” protection – where people have the human right to change gender – or as in my case change to a halfway (non-binary position which needs to be explicitly stated and protected in law'

My bold.

What exactly does he mean, here?

Why we must protect non binary identities

Editor’s Note: This is the speech Adrian would have given had they been called in the heavily over-subscribed debate on the Free to be who you are policy paper in Harrogate Firstly a big thank you to our mover Christine Jardine MP for spending the time...

Who exactly is being excluded from sport? The Leah Thomases of the world are MEN, and there are umpteen opportunities for men to compete in sport at all levels. Leah Thomas isn't in the US swimming team because there are five hundred odd men better than he is. He needs to either train harder or stop being mardy and find the level he can compete at - which is not women's races.

For Transmen i.e. women, the position is a little muddier. A woman taking testosterone would get banned and quite rightly, and female puberty doesn't confer a sporting advantage. So they can only compete as women and be drug free at that.

Then we get sidetracked with people with DSDs. This area needs much more research and I would say that such individuals need to be treated on a case by case basis.

But at least this nonsense has helped me to decide that the next time the LibDems come calling for more money for an election campaign they can forget it.

You can comment under the article, it's premoderated though I like to think they'll let most comments through except abuse, spam, nonsense, etc. And talking of nonsense, one of the comments Hmm

Nobody can stop anyone else believing anything. I think the issue with the Equality Act is that people are using it to force organisations to give them a platform to express their beliefs, even if those beliefs are at odds with that organisation’s. It’s like me going down to Marks and Spencer’s and trying to force a dress that I’d designed into their shop window. And make no mistake, a dress that I had designed would be hideous and not something that they would wish to have associated with their brand.

Adrian wants to remove protection from people expressing beliefs (incidentally all beliefs). I suspect he thinks it'll just be beliefs he, personally, disagrees with. How does it go? 'First they came for the...'.

Also

As a non binary individual, though staunchly retaining my same-sex attraction

I don't see how that works.

Transwomen boycotted open competitions.

This isn't women's fault or problem.

Here's a timely reminder that there is no such thing as a non binary category in most sporting competitions, and in the few instances where a non binary category has been created, female non binary competitors (or their parents) have complained that they need to have separate categories for male non binary people and female non binary people because male non binary people have a physical advantage over female non binary people.

I'm a non binary person. No, not that kind of non binary person, the other kind.

I assume that means he's only attracted to other non-binary people.

Do you? I assume it means he's attracted to people with the same kind of genitalia.

In other words, he knows exactly what sort of non binary person he is and what sort of non binary person he is not.

ArabellaScott · 26/03/2025 14:11

Well, it's a complete oxymoron, isn't it? The internal contradiction can't be overcome.

I can't think of anything less liberal and less democratic than trying to take away people's right to freedom of expression.
