Here for your delight and delectation is the hostelry by, for, and about wise, intelligent, creative and kind women, their assorted avatars including (but not limited to) a remarkable beetle, an astute android, a wise cake, and an assembly of companion creatures and animal assistants.

Food and drink available in abundance, all with remarkable non-damaging qualities.

Males may congregate in the nearby Staunch Ally and sometimes visit the stableyard to view outdoor performances by the gerbil waitstaff (who need to be distracted after the moment after that terrible 'misunderstanding' about the meaning of safe sex).

last thread here if you need to know why the Quokkas need some extra cuddles, and why the Cabybaras are being particularly efficient just now

Oh, lovely. I do like a bit of joined-up thinking.

Mummy Pig's pregnancy announcement on the show will be during the final episode of the current series of Peppa Pig, which will air on 30 March, coinciding with Mother's Day.

MarieDeGournay · 27/02/2025 18:47

Woley, I hope the physio is helpful. In my experience there are things like you have that sort themselves out - maybe just sprains or something - and things that don't sort themselves out - something like a cartilage tear or something - that needs something done to it to sort it out.
Or to put it another way:
'it hurts but will probably sort itself out'
and
'uh-oh, this is still hurting and calls for somebody with letters after their name' Smile
I have no opinion about DH/London, but Errol's point about having someone local on standby is a good one.

MyrtleLion · 27/02/2025 18:52

Booknookery! It's finished and is on my bookshelf. Here are pictures. More detail in the next post.

More detail. Yes, the next one is in transit and will arrive on or before Wednesday. It's mindfulness.

Those are amazing, Myrtle! I agree re mindfulness, that's why I do Lego.

Britinme · 27/02/2025 19:03

Just gorgeous - I want one of those IRL.

lcakethereforeIam · 27/02/2025 19:10

I suspect they are very addictive, like craft crack. It looks amazing.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/02/2025 19:39

That is utterly gorgeous, @MyrtleLion - you are so clever!

I have found myself eying up the Lego model of Notre Dame, but a) it is £199, and b) I was almost driven to drink by the cherry blossom models, so I would be in full blown liver failure by the time I finished Notre Dame - so I shall just fantasise instead. Maybe we could have a Lego corner in the Bluestocking?

Magpiecomplex · 27/02/2025 19:45

Woley, if you put a Lego corner in the 'Stocking, you'll have to dynamite me out of it each time we need a new thread!

Magpiecomplex · 27/02/2025 19:50

Thank you! It is a kit, so much of the cleverness acrrues to the designers and I can see flaws (don't look too closely at the chandelier) but I am going to focus on the joy I had in building it.

When I started the first model like this I thought it would be a one off because it was so fiddly. Now I'm really leaning into the fiddliness and loving it.

What will I do while I wait for the next one to arrive???

Currently in an actual pub, our actual local, with DH, having a conversation...

Magpiecomplex · 27/02/2025 20:57

I did the same thing last night Myrtle. Obviously not with your DH though. An actual pub, with actual people!

Did you find it quite scary weird?

He's been away at a client office overnight for the first time since the pandemic and I had lunch with my DM so we actually have things to talk about.

Not especially, but I've been in front of classes whenever the schools weren't actually closed, so I'm fully back in pre-covid mode these days.

MyrtleLion · 27/02/2025 21:25

I'm also going out tomorrow in that London to see a band!

And then staying with my BFF and meeting her 3 year old DGS for the first time.

I am quite the social animal!

I wonder which is more enjoyable on a rare sunny morning?

Doing a very overdue round of washing and pegging it out to dry in the sun

OR

Googling to see what a washing machine error message meant, pushing a snaky thing up the drain, then realising the sink drain outlet doohdah was full of grey stinky stuff, bailing out and dumping the grey stinky stuff, then opening the trap in the washing machine, flooding the kitchen floor in the process, and finding some sticks and string and one of those colour catchers in a place where no colour catcher should be. Then having a shower that only partly removed the truly evil smell, despite much scrubbing with posh soap, and making a second attempt at doing the washing prior to washing every stitch I was wearing during the previous operations.

You decide.

Can you not do both and have double the fun?

Although now having read the entire thread, I can see that your sterling efforts were very worthwhile. I am proud on your behalf that you managed to fix the thing and did loads of washing. It is horrible when reliable things suddenly become broken, quite understand you nearly crying about it.

- but YOU DID IT!

inkymoose · 27/02/2025 22:01

I thought the AI could do a lovely depiction of your morning's work but... it doesn't quite manage it... and it was a heck of a job trying to get it to show you wearing trousers. However the triumphant scene is pretty good

I just got home from a lovely birthday dinner at a particularly nice restaurant and I have drunk a moderate amount of booze and I feel very happy.

DeanElderberry · 28/02/2025 07:43

I was in an actual pub with real people on Wednesday, but it was in the morning so we were all drinking tea. A lot to be said for it. And it looks as though I'll be in one tomorrow eating my 'free' lunch.

AI has captured the mood of my morning very well - hair far too long, waist far too small, and the stinky explorations were outdoors, but otherwise - not bad, and it captures the lumpy grey horror of the drain contents very well.

Drain contents are properly called 'dack gnusel' I see. As well they might be.

Looking at the picture with Google in it, I think that the AI has been on the gin!

Can you ask AI where I can get those trousers, I really like them, very 'me'! Smile
I bet they have really good pockets.

I feel I should point out that while in the garden bailing dack gnusel out of the drain and wheeling it to remote parts of the garden I kept my trousers, and indeed, my garden clogs on.

My house is set quite far back from the road but I would not have wanted to risk traumatising the postman.
