Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Pressure growing on Scottish Health Minister Neil Gray to comment on single sex spaces

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14410505/EUAN-McCOLM-Neil-Graystays-quiet-single-sex-changing-rooms.html

'The Sandie Peggie case is clear and easy to understand. As its heart is a simple question: “should - as the law insists - Sandie Peggie be provided by NHS Fife a single sex changing space or should Dr Upton, who is a biological male, be permitted to undress alongside women?”

You, like me, may consider it madness that we have reached this stage but we are now living under the legacy of former First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, a monomaniacal trans activist whose contempt for feminists opposed to allowing men into women’s spaces hastened her political undoing.'

...
Mr Sarwar insisted he had “always been clear” single-sex spaces must be provided where required.
“No nurse,” he said, “should ever face disciplinary action for refusing to share a changing room.”
Mr Murray, added - as if Scottish Labour’s fingerprints were not smeared all over this utter fiasco - that it was time for the Scottish Government to “clear up the sheer mess that they’ve made of this whole issue”.
I applaud the shamelessness of Messrs Sarwar and Murray.
Perhaps, in time, they’ll accept responsibility for their party’s culpability in a creating a culture in which women are abused and vilified for insisting that sex is real.
Maybe, they’ll even apologise for abandoning women over this issue.
But neither Mr Sarwar nor Mr Murray can do anything about what has gone so badly wrong in NHS Fife. The power to act in the case of Sandie Peggie lies with Neil Gray.'

'The Scottish Conservatives have accused ministers of "moral cowardice" after their calls for a statement on public sector workers' access to single-sex spaces were rejected at Holyrood.
The Tories called for the Scottish government to provide clarity on the issue amid an ongoing employment tribunal.
...
Parliamentary business minister Jamie Hepburn cited a lack of time, short notice, and the live legal proceedings as the reasons why the government would not provide a statement to parliament.
The government later issued a statement saying it supports provisions under the Equality Act 2010 which allow for trans people to be excluded from some spaces when its it a "proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim".

I really hope that this case knocks 'be kind' on the head for much more of the public and that we can get back to sanity (that biological reality is more important than 'gender identity').

Enough4me · 18/02/2025 23:24

Yes, less of 'be kind and ignore pretence' and more of women's rights exist. Single sex facilities should not be removed as they exist for privacy and dignity.

'Health Secretary Neil Gray, on a visit to Dunfermline, declines to offer backing to local nurse Sandie Peggie, who faces sack after “misgendering” trans doctor. He goes on to express “full confidence” in NHS Fife’s leadership.'

Scottish election next year, everyone.

We need to get these fuckers out now. Raging. Absolutely raging.

ArabellaScott · 19/02/2025 14:23

Well, yes, but who will replace them? A Labour-Tory coalition?!

Transcript of the very bad-tempered exchanges in Scotparl yesterday, in which Douglas Ross seeks a response to the NHS Fife situation but is refused.

Actually I dont see that he could reasonably say much else. The case is still in the courts and whatever doubts he may have about the leadership he cant express them. If you have to express confidence in leadership, though, that is quite often followed by a leadership change.

CanOfMangoTango · 19/02/2025 14:52

Full confidence, eh?

Usually means they are on borrowed time!

The question of whether this is sub judice was addressed ... one MSP said it was, another said it wasn't.

MSP Roz McCall in Scotparl today:

'The Scottish Government has a duty to stop NHS Fife from wasting astronomical sums of taxpayers' money on a witch hunt against a woman standing up for her rights when vital health and social care services are being cut. I challenged the Cabinet Secretary to act. Fife patients deserve better.'

''MSPs who backed GRA reform always say it was the most consulted upon piece of legislation in the history of Holyrood as if that’s not a humiliating admission of their ineptitude. It was the most consulted upon law and you still fucked it up this badly? Well, you must be halfwits.'

Well, yes.
