Can’t people read? The teacher was licking her own hands, not the students.
The school confirmed it’s aware of it, but still posters are calling it made up?
Do you remember how many posters were insisting that the WiSpa incident didn’t happen either?

If I was allowed to identify as a cat at work, I'd climb on top of a cupboard, curl up, and go to sleep all day.

The bedding section would be my spot

Ideal! Sadly I work in an office so we don't have any bedding 😺

Do you remember the "it's not true that never happened" posts when the Canadian teacher made the news?

Now I'm not saying the furry teacher actually exists, but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it entirely as being completely made up click bait and denigrate anyone who believes it could be true

These days NOTHING would surprise me as to what teachers think is acceptable behaviour in front of children At this point in the madness of the last few years anything is possible.

I really do hope this is a completely false story, because if it's not then I despair!

It appears the overlarge prosthetic breasts under pink jumper images of Kayla Lemieux fail the AI test!! They are still under review.

I live in qld and I am a teacher There is a massive teacher shortage, particularly in Logan, where marsden high is. They literally can’t get any teachers so any warm body in front of the class will do. There has been other disturbing stories, there was a high school teacher playing with himself in the classroom in front of students. Student behaviour is out of control in some high schools. I’m not just making stuff up, I have friends who work in some of the worst schools, kids throwing chairs, fighting, swearing and spitting at staff ect. Stealing things, destroying classrooms. Another friend is a GP and she seems a teacher every few days who is having a breakdown. So it’s entirely possible that Miss Purr is either having a breakdown, or she is completely bonkers and was hired anyway because there is no one else.

not sure how relevant it is but they currently also let uni students teach, people who are in their final year of study can apply to start a year early so we have teachers who aren’t even qualified in the classroom.

@Chersfrozenface

So there are photos extant of the teacher's behaviour and yet simultaneously it didn't happen?

I didn't say it didn't happen. What I'm trying to get at here is we don't know the motivation behind the cat ears (and any hand licking, which is anecdotal). We just have a a blurry picture or two.

WandsOut · 09/02/2025 08:08

The only cat I want teaching my children is Professor McGonagall.

Very true. I saw a prep teacher the other day wearing butterfly wings. I didn’t think she was identifying as a butterfly I imagine she was just reading the hungry caterpillar to the class. Or else learning about insects.

Update: According to a follow-up article, the teacher who claims to be a cat is now not working at the school (temporarily or permanently is unclear), and the school has had to lock down comments on their social media as outrage grows…

From the article:
‘Miss Purr’ no longer working after widespread condemnation | The Courier Mail

“It’s understood a Queensland high school teacher who had been referring to themselves as a cat, while also allegedly hissing at students and licking the back of their hands in disturbing classroom behaviour, is no longer in work.”

“This masthead understands the teacher had still been working at Brisbane’s Marsden State High School until news surfaced of her alleged antics last week.”

“Comments have been disabled on the school’s social media accounts following widespread online condemnation of the alleged behaviour over the weekend.”

“Photos and short videos showed the teacher in a classroom wearing a cat ears headband and a lanyard with the word “purr” on it.”

“Marsden has a student cohort of more than 3000.
The Courier-Mail was told the teacher had been asking to be referred to as Miss Purr, and was seen wearing the ears around school grounds over multiple days, including at an assembly.”

I thought this didn't happen? So why is the press reporting this?

Or maybe it did happen, is symbolic of a small group of adults who don't represent the majority and shouldn't be anywhere near children. It highlights how important it is for parents and professionals to be able to speak out promptly, for children to be believed and to be heard with nonsense like this being stopped promptly.

#nodebate has done so much harm as is repeatedly shown. From the Wi spa, the NSPCC's pornified rubber man, the Mermaids porn / paediphile scandal and much more. Institutions and society must feel free to call out / report things that harm children immediately and to be taken seriously.

FeralWoman · 10/02/2025 08:25

I’d like to know if the teacher is still employed by Education Queensland, and if she/he might turn up teaching at another state high school. I’d rather she/he didn’t pop up at another school, like my DD’s state high school in Queensland.

One comment I saw on a local page was that the teacher had put the ears on after a student, who was wearing them, challenged him to try them on. (And the comment did say "him".)

To me, this makes much more sense in context, even if the teacher has had to take leave. Imagine if you were a teacher and this happened to you? There is no way you could control a classroom.

CocoapuffPuff · 10/02/2025 08:46

How did the cat pass the teacher training degree?

My three are VERY good at walking across my keyboard as I try to work but nothing they type could be considered an essay, or even a sentence.....

If it was reported that the teacher was seen only in the classroom, that interpretation would make sense.

The teacher, however, was apparently photographed over multiple days, in class and out of class and at assembly.

Entirely possible but did the student also pass the PURR lanyard over as well?

given how short staffed they say they are, bet she just been moved on to another school, swept under the rug, like Qld edu love to do with everything

makes me glad we moved to homeschooling

JoyousGreyOrca · 10/02/2025 15:04

It is not true.
And the school has not locked down its page. It has restricted who can comment to parents. Because of people going there and saying untrue things.

So the Queensland Department of Education is lying when they confirmed that the teacher had been spoken to?

How about the Minister for Education - is he lying too?

“On Tuesday morning, Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek said he could “reassure Queenslanders that the teacher is not teaching at the school”.
Mr Langbroek said as soon as the matter was identified, the principal took action.”

“As should be the case – but I would wager the damage has been done. Kids won’t forget this in a hurry.”

“And why should it be up to children to raise red flags via their parents? Where is the oversight of staff on a daily basis?”

Chalk it up as yet another thing us women were told 'wasn't happening' and it turns out, like 99% of the time, the 'terfs' were right all along.
