I haven't heard of her previous to this experience over the last few days.

I don't follow the Grammy or anything but happened to see her performance of Pink Pony Club on Facebook. I thought it was brilliant. The pageantry, her voice, makeup etc.

So I've listened to it on Spotify alot over the last few days.

I posted on FB saying it's been stuck in my head, love the song etc and a friend commented saying 'Surprised you like her considering she stands up for the LGBTQ+ Community and this song is about a gay bar for drag queens'

Yes, I am gender critical. No I don't dislike trans people, I just think everyone needs to stay in their own spaces. No I don't like drag queen's, I think they're offensive. HOWEVER this person knows full well that ad a female I've had FOUR lesbian partners and was engaged to a woman at one point.

So I'm hardly some anti rainbow phobic person!

And it's a song! Do you have to align your views completely with an artist to be able to listen to them?

I don't like strip clubs either bit it's just a bloody catchy song and the singer looks so cool!

I’m not sure, it must be on Netflix or Amazon Or something. DS was watching and I wasn’t initially paying attention.

Apparently it’s the carpool karaoke Christmas special with Zane Lowe

I neither know nor care about the opinions and personal lives of musicians, writers etc unless they've committed an awful crime

I like her music. So I'll listen to it.

UnimaginableWindBird · 06/02/2025 21:25

Isn't she a lesbian but from a very homophobic background who has talked quite a lot about her internalized homophobia? I just think it's nice to have a woman singing massively popular and catchy songs about romantic and sexual relationships with other women.

Another Trans bashing thread.

No if you actually read the OP, she is a lesbian or bi woman who experienced a mini lecture / scold about supporting "LGBTQ" from her presumably straight friend.

My DD introduced this old codger to Chappell Roan and I think she's great. She was brave to stand up to the music execs at the Grammies! I love her artistry.

SapphOhNo · 07/02/2025 08:36

She describes Chappel Roan as her drag persona and has spoken out about trans rights etc.

But yes still fine to listen to her music.

Another Trans bashing thread.

I have 'Last Night a Drag Queen saved my Life' CD single still, and I've sat next to Dirty Martini in bars in New York.

I don't 'bash' any 'trans' but I do object to men in women's spaces and dressing their fetish in public.

Nuance love, nuance.

Hope that helps.
