US passes bill to protect women's and girls' sport

Good news: the Republican-dominated house of representatives has passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports bill, which will stop trans-identified boys and men competing in girls' sports in school.

A typically biased report from the Guardian:

Yes, the headline isn't just wrong, it's deliberately deceptive. Oh, the poor trans children stopped from playing sports by the mean Republicans. An outright lie to garner sympathy. The 'genital inspection' is another one. It elicits a kneejerk reaction of disgust to make the Republicans look like perverts. No sane person would countenance such checks. I think it was in the early draft of one bill (Florida?), but was swiftly removed. Cheek swabs, but only where birth certificates and other documentation can't be trusted, would be sufficient.

Exactly the sort of shitty and dishonest journalism you'd have looked to the Guardian to avoid. At one time. Stop gaslighting your readers, Viner!

The lack of self-awareness, inconsistency and hypocrisy of gender ideologues never fails to astound me. Check it out:
*There is no enforcement mechanism in this bill,” the New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said. “And when there is no enforcement mechanism, you open the door for every enforcement mechanism.”
So she can say this, but yet not see that when you have no safeguarding mechanisms, though removing single sex provision, you open the door to every safeguarding infringement.

And this from the Guardian:
Our rigorous, fact-based independent journalism will hold those in power to account and interrogate the human impact of the decisions made in the White House
How can they say this about themselves under such a factually wrong article, which completely ignores the human impact for half of the human population (women and girls).

It's funny how that "inspection" is deliberately used to get support, yet when it is the other way round, women and girls having no privacy in changing rooms / showers, they are told they are not kind.

Totally agree about the intentional wrong wording, of course they can play sports, but in the team that aligns with their biology. And for hundreds of years before the ideology there was no need to check the obvious, either (rare cases in the Olympics excepted).

It's great news. I can't believe only 2 democrats voted for this. I do not understand the insanity that has such a grip on the world. It's so obvious that men should not be in women's sports. I really don't understand how it's possible to have another opinion on the matter. I no longer read articles from the Guardian, I get my information elsewhere because they are so biased and inaccurate in their reporting.

Riley Gains did a speech about the passing of this bill, it's on X https://x.com/Schilling1776/status/1879273257431675256

She's brilliant. This part of her speech,

'I am mad that we, that women, have to beg for equal rights, I am mad that we have to beg for privacy from men, I am mad that we have to beg for safety.'

Abso-fucking-lutely. I am sure all the feminists on this board feel this too.

Absolutely, I'm furious! And astounded at how quickly we lost our rights. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.

The cynical disingenuousness of it! She's not a fool; she knows perfectly well that there's no need for that.

A goodly number of trans identified men absolutely WANT women or girls to see their genitals, that's why they're so keen to force their way into women's single sex spaces without women's consent. Social media is awash with their pictures of them deliberately exposing themselves in women's spaces. Wii spa etc. This is their fantasy and the language is deliberate. It's about the fetish. Cheek swabs could be done once in a lifetime where there's doubt (which there barely ever is) and definitively determine XY or XX. But no, presumably there's a lot of 'trans joy' whenever AOC talks about genital inspections.

Riley Gaines talks about how Thomas stripped off in front of her with his full male genitalia and his 6ft 4 frame - it must have been terrifying- she says this used to be called voyeurism / indecent exposure / sexual harassment but now it's celebrated. Then he stole her medal.

Lol at genital inspection. Just make them sing "amazing grace"!
Very few broken voices survive that pitch.

In what key? And in the soprano range or the tenor range? On a good day I can sing an alto part at the correct pitch, so Amazing Grace is no problem unless I'm trying to sing at the same pitch as a soprano.

lcakethereforeIam · 16/01/2025 11:42

'I vow to thee, my country' will give the vocals a bit of a work out too.

Alalalala · 16/01/2025 11:49

Great speech from Riley.
