That jumped out to me as well. He really doesn't see women as fully realised humans with as much inner life as himself at all does he?
We are just scenery to be deployed his own drama of self realisation, NPCs who will continue to play our scripted parts regardless of how the Real People change the context in which we do it.
Even as the changes trans people demand make those parts meaningless (what is the reason for the existence of women's sports, or women's anything, if anyone can be a woman?) they assume we won't question anything, that we will just carry on as their props because that's what women do, right?
Fundamentally, their definition of woman is the people who do the woman-only things. So the idea that if supposedly women-only things no longer work for women we might just ... stop, is outside their comprehension.
