As it should be. However, despite the histrionics, that hasn't actually happened: as I read it, he keeps the trophies and prize money from previous "wins", so the women who should have won are still disadvantaged.

Crap in the men's class, so cheats in the women's, furious that he wasn't consulted to judge on his own behaviour, and has decided that because of the aforementioned crapness at the men's he'll no longer stand a chance?

Do these men really think that whingeing their arse off about not being able to, what most people would consider, blatantly cheat, really inspire anything other than contempt? Save for the most rabid transactivists?

I wonder if he was particularly pleased with his "achievement" not just because he won a competition, but because he won in the women's group and was therefore validated in his identity as a woman.

Just the manipulative language alone in Davidson's statements are a grand indication of the sex of this person.

And the reference to Davidson's birthday disappointment was just the framing that was needed.

Lance Armstrong's line is that he didn't cheat, because the dictionary definition of cheating is "to gain an unfair advantage". As everyone was on drugs, his only advantage was being really good at doing drugs.

I recommend the biography Cycle of Lies, even if you're not into cycling, as an intriguing portrait of a sociopath and the system that enabled him. His recovery from cancer helped deflect a lot of criticism; "you can't question the integrity of someone who's had cancer!!!" Puts me in mind of today's breaking story about the sex pest misogynists in charge of Pink News; "you can't question the integrity of that nice well-spoken gay couple!!!"

Entitled man. And he can't try for the Men's Open or men's golf tournaments because he isn't good enough - but he can beat women because he has all the advantages of being male. Twerp and double-twerp. Go away.

Every time I see that 'greatest achievement' quote I feel another shot of rage at how deluded he is to think taking a place from a woman is any kind of achievement at all.
