Can you get in for free if you identify as a black trans woman?

😂👏

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/10/2024 10:05

Plenty of women have formed a social and political identity around solidarity with trans people and sticking it to the TERFS, and I can imagine a lot of #bekind socia pressure to go as well. The lesbians showing solidarity might not be so keen to cop off with a male but I'm sure some of the more flexible queer women will - what better way for a spicy straight to prove her queer bona fides by getting off with not just a woman (so lesbian!) but a transwoman? (So Inclusive! so Proud! Living my values!)

Yes.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 11/10/2024 10:28

Looking on insta (because I appear to have too much time on my hands), it looks like it did go ahead and was attended by a small number of women and men. Obviously I can’t tell their gender identities or sexual orientation from photos

a follow up is planned for December.

I think the creepy chap doing the organising is also an aspiring musician and was by coincidence a special guest performer

so should you wish to familiarise yourself with his oeuvre for free you know what to do. Just make sure you identify as a black, working class man identifying as a woman

puffyisgood · 11/10/2024 11:13

looks horrendous to me but it's of course absolutely right that someone with these interests should be able to organise an event aimed at like minded people. they have a right to run it without fear of gatecrashing or other sabotage in just the same way as any other group.

ChaChaChooey · 11/10/2024 11:55

Good job we’re barred tervern, because obviously we’d overwhelm the organisers in our mad rush to enjoy the facilities on offer across the tracks from Lewisham Muncipal Tip!

Edited

does/did that involve playing the piano with his knob? Or is that so very last year?

YesterdaysFuture · 11/10/2024 13:22

The Instagram account for this is now private. Perhaps the angry young man who set this up is now embarrassed?

Dominoodles · 11/10/2024 13:25

Never thought I'd describe a lesbian event as a sausage fest, but here we are.

Bodeganights · 11/10/2024 13:29

(goths rather than lesblokes

Stealing this.

Or being harassed - sadly that does happen to TRAs who go viral as well as GC women.

Problem is when they try and have actual female lesbian nights, they get TW trying to gatecrash and stamping their feet shouting ‘transphobia’

XY should have their Own
clubs
An
XY cannot be a lesbian.

Any more than an XX could be a Gay man.

Urgh.
The antithesis of what being a lesbian is.

Perhaps don't describe women as "cunts" and tell them to "fuck off"?

He can give it, but he can't take it.

It’s true and I hate that people can’t just read something, raise their eyebrows and move on (or bitch about it extensively on MN obvs). I hope he hasn’t been harassed

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 11/10/2024 13:48

These sorts of things are interesting indicators of cultural attitudes and as such legitimate topics for conversation in my opinion (obviously as I have kvetched about it extensively on this thread).

but I would certainly not look to engage directly with the people involved and wish people wouldn’t

ChaChaChooey · 11/10/2024 16:10

I think the KFarmers ‘Don’t Touch The Poo’ is a reasonable motto to live by.

I’m all for niche club nights aimed at a very specific audience, even (especially?) ones I wouldn’t attend in a million years!

£16 seems well steep tho, especially for a night out on an industrial estate in Lewisham with nasty lavatories.

The13thFairy · 17/10/2024 17:55

Oh, I can see scads of actual female lesbians clamouring to get in, can't you? /s

lcakethereforeIam · 17/10/2024 22:30

Reminds me of that place where wossisname did the press thing by mistake! You know, he meant to hire the Four Seasons Hotel but rented a landscaping business next to a funeral director instead.

I hope they had a lovely time. Another one in December eh! Well I'm sure the spirit of Christmas, the cold and dark will make it magical ✨️

TwistedWonder · 10/10/2024 21:20

Is that investment bankers who identify as road sweepers?

😂👏👏👏

Appalonia · 17/10/2024 23:17

I really want to go, just to be a spy and report back on this carcrash of an event!😂

ArabellaScott · 18/10/2024 07:28

Club advertises you can request a search from a security person with 'the gender of your choice'.

Right you lezzers. All round to mine. Bring your own booze but I'll do snacks . Large lounge and dining room. Garage and patio.
It's not a bar or night club but at the end of the evening there won't be sweat dripping off the ceiling.
At Uni we had women only nights at the union bar.
We got free drinks if the bar manager heard the door staff say ' fuck off' to a cock in a frock trying to get in.
On one occasion the bar manager called a taxi to transport 5 lads to the very local and walkable ' men who dress like women's bar.' to ensure the male students understood that a women only night was exactly that.
This was in the mid 90"S when the SU at my uni was massive on making sure gay and lesbian students felt safe.
Men never tried to gate crash the gay nights.

Bars can run any promotion they want really. It is a bit counterproductive though. The reason that bars have "ladies nights" where women get in for free/get cheaper drinks isn't because bar owners really want to support women. its because they know that if lots of women are coming to a bar (or are expected to) then more men will also want to come and they will pay full price. Win win. You could discuss the ethics of women being used as bait for men I guess. However, I doubt very much (could be wrong) that there are that many single lesbians on the prowl for dick who are going to be drawn there the way that ladies get in free nights draw men. Could be wrong.

Not in the UK. Offering free/cheap drinks to any group of people including women would breach the Equality Act.

That sounds lovely thank you, see you later! Grin

The 90s sound like an age away now - lesbians and gays being respected and our rights defended? These days it's more likely to be hate crimes when we try to get together, e.g. the recent homophobic disruption of the LGB Alliance conference.

TwistedWonder · 18/10/2024 10:01

Nowadays there would be wails of ‘transphobia’ and ‘hateful bigots’ being screamed from the rooftops for daring to not pander to the penis (frock or no frock). How dare women want a single sex space to enjoy themselves without men muscling in
