Tonight’s women’s volleyball match between San Jose State University and Colorado State University will be monitored by droves of armed police after one of the San Jose players received a chilling death threat. The threat is believed to be a direct response to Brooke Slusser’s support for single-sex sports.

And there have been four teams forfeit their games in protest at male inclusion too.

I am always amused by the way that TRAs, when they run out of their meagre store of cod scientific arguments, always fall back on one of two fallacies:

1. A simplistic and deeply patronising appeal to light, love and #bekind
2. A paternalistic and deeply patronising minimisation of women's concerns about their rights: "Now what are you silly terfs getting your knickers all in a twist about? There's nothing to see here for you to bother your silly little heads about!"

It's interesting to see Chapman manage to deploy BOTH fallacies here in one statement. But in doing so she demonstrates her own ignorance. Sport is, sadly, NOT something that unites women of all cultures. Afghan, Pakistani and Saudi women have in recent months been subject to severe punishment for wanting and trying to pursue sport (and in Uganda, three have been SET ON FIRE), as Maggie might know if she tore her attention away from menzfeelz for long enough to read a newspaper report or two.

Is she still at it? You have to hand it to her, no amount of physical reality or political disaster is going to influence her. She's unstoppable!

Well it isn't. Provided they compete in the correct sex category like everyone else.

I don't think it's the participation in sports that's the issue.
To me the issue is forcing people who have had the advantage of testosterone to compete with those that haven't.

These male people are not excluded from sport. Just from female sports categories, like all other male people.

Well the issue is that it's the other way round, but I do agree with you.

Trans women's participation in categories for XY individuals should be no barrier for women and girls.

Unfortunately trans women are also competing in female categories.

There is always a deliberate muddle of language claiming that trans women are banned from sport full stop, purposefully forgetting that they are able to freely compete in the male categories.

It's just plain delusional at that point.

Nobody is forcing them to do that. The issue is that they want to do that, and they are being allowed to do so despite the fact that it's not fair on the other competitors.

There is absolutely nothing stopping any trans woman athlete from saying, "I am a woman but I have been through male puberty so I will continue to compete in the male category."

I have not been able to find any evidence of it anywhere.

quite right, just as the participation of 12 year olds in football is no barrier to the existence of an u-9s team, or the participation of 120kg behemoths in boxing is no barrier to the existence of the lightweight category... provided everyone's in the proper class.
