It's really ironic how some people, always on the genderist side of things, pop up to 'Romansplain' the word 'cis' to women and tell us it's not offensive 'it's Latin dontcha know' (yes I did know, it's used in molecular chemistry).
Offence is subjective - if I find something offensive then it's offensive to me. End of.
An example: The boys at school in the 80s used to use 'spastic' as an insult. When the charity The spastics society changed their name to 'scope', it didn't take long for 'scopey ' to become the new insult. Nothing offensive about the word per se (see, I can use Latin too), but the intent was pretty offensive and the teachers quite rightly didn't allow it.
The hypocrisy is phenomenal - we are scolded for not referring to Mr Izzard (or his alter ego) and other TW as 'she' and not welcoming them into the ladies toilet lest they become upset - but does the consideration go both ways?
Does it fuck.
When you can show the same respect and consideration that you are demanding we show these men, maybe just maybe you'll be worth listening to.
Oh. And anyone can sue anyone else if they can get a solicitor to take their case (or are brave enough to represent themselves). It doesn't mean they're going to be successful, nor does it mean the defendant has done anything wrong!
