The Green Party expels Shahrar Ali

cariadlet · 26/09/2024 23:18

The Green Party had been found guilty of discrimination against Shahrar.
9K costs awarded in February.

He was suspended shortly before the Autumn Conference where he had proposed a motion in support of the Cass Review.

2 weeks ago he was awarded 90k. The Green Party is also facing massive legal bills for its own costs.

Today, they expelled Shahrar.

Thanks fromorbit I love that barely contained rant from Shahrar! I totally identify with that frustration. He said something true in defence of women, who people like the greens used to care about, and he’s in trouble for thought crime with people too stupid to wonder if losing a court case to the tune of 90K+ means they might be the baddies 🤦🏻‍♀️

MrsWhattery · 27/09/2024 09:35

Is there a Green alternative party taking shape anywhere? It needs to be called the green science or green reality party or something. I’d definitely get involved but unfortunately not in a position to do anything more proactive. I know it’s all a bit peoples front of Judea but at this point we need a proper green opposition. I think a lot of people in the Green Party now aren’t environmentalists, they just picked it because they think it’s the most social justice, stick-it-to-the man party

It's a pity the Greens are so weird. They could have been a force for good.

There are many excellent people in the Greens. Dedicated environmental campaigners of many decades.

Unfortunately a small extremist ideology has taken over positions of power and is destroying the party from the inside.

MrsWhattery · 27/09/2024 09:50

There definitely are, but a lot of them have left or been forced out over genderism. Other are trying to fight on from within but it’s a fight that detracts from the urgent green agenda. If there was a non-genderism-crazed alternative a lot would decamp.

ArabellaScott · 27/09/2024 09:51

Possibly. Alternatively, the interlopers could be removed and reason restored. It's not clear which way it will go - most members are totally unaware of these internal issues and still think the Greens are all about the environment.

Are they absolutely fucking mental??

Yes. Have you not seen them and heard what they say?

Well that is true.

Locally to me we have a community council election after the death of a councillor. This is taken from the GP website blurb about their candidate:

"Moreover, I identify as
non-binary, traversing the spectrum of gender beyond the confines of
traditional binaries. Additionally, I embrace my geristhenolagnic
identity, recognizing and celebrating the attraction to older
individuals as a fundamental aspect of my being."

A) eh?
B) how is any of this relevant to the role of councillor?
C) eh?
D) they are absolutely fucking mental, yes.
E) I don't know why I react to this the way I do - my first reaction is to be reluctant to post about this as I honestly think the candidate is probably quite vulnerable but IT'S ON THEIR WEBSITE ffs

Good grief!
NO offence, JustAMiddleAgedDirtBagBaby,* but for one brief moment I thought 'That has to be made up, nobody would actually write that about themselves! and WTF is geristhenolagnic??'
It's all there in black and white, with green trimming at the top of the screen:
Harry Hayfield - LGBTIQA+ Greens (greenparty.org.uk)

Including a helpful explanation of that geristhen....thingy:
I embrace my geristhenolagnic
identity, recognizing and celebrating the attraction to older
individuals as a fundamental aspect of my being.

*love the nameSmile

mumda · 27/09/2024 12:59

@JustAMiddleAgedDirtBagBaby What's geristhenolagnic mean?

Is it not:
Gerontophilia or gerontosexuality is the primary sexual attraction to the elderly. A person with such a sexual preference is a gerontophile or gerontosexual.

Did they want to feel so special they made a word up?

NutellaEllaElla · 27/09/2024 13:01

I want to know what that is, but I also don’t want to google it.
edited to add: thank you for the definition

It should go back to its original name - The Ecology Party.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 27/09/2024 13:07

How old is elderly though? Do they mean care home infirm, or like that awesome woman who parachuted at 90, or is it just a number but the opposite of paedophile? Is it because instead of smooth baby skin they like the wrinkly skin (of elephants)?

And in having to think what questions to ask I now feel incredibly dirty 😩 Why can't the fuckers just be normal for once?

Looks like you're right - as far as Google is concerned anyway, only two uses of the word - the manifesto, plus a gay men's discussion board.
The regulars in Pedantry Corner over in the Bluestocking Arms could have great fun breaking down the etymology of 'geristhenolagnic'...
oh wait, I AM one of the regulars in Pedantry Corner, so here goes..

Well I've found out that Wikipedia defines sthenolagnia as 'muscle worship' - ' a form of body worship in which one participant, the worshiper, touches the muscles of another participant, the dominant, in a sexually arousing manner.'

Put the prefix 'geri-' for older in front of it and there you have it, in all its paraphiliac glory...

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/09/2024 13:10

Are Greens aware that shouting Expelliarmus at all their internal critics is not going to make the next cohort of legal actions vanish in a puff of smoke?

Blasphemer!
All words written or created by JKR are inherently transphobic. The Greens would never use such a filthy word.

ArabellaScott · 27/09/2024 13:19

'strategizing to advance sexual diversity'

This statement of intent does not inspire confidence, I'm afraid.

Damn, beat me to it while I was wrestling (geddit?) with the -stheno- element.

Greek word meaning 'strong, mighty' and incidentally for that reason the name of the strongest and most dangerous of the Gorgons?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/09/2024 13:22

So he is sexually attracted to muscly pensioners?

The Greens 😰
Male sexual fetishes 😩

Or possibly wanted a euphemism for gerontophiliac, which even a wingnut of his/their/zir kind might consider a giveaway.

It's a good job there are no environmental emergencies they should be focusing on isn't it? 🙄

This. We really do need a party that takes environmental issues seriously. This lot have completely lost their minds. I would love to be able to vote for a party that would produce and follow through sensible policies on the environment. I thought that was what the Greens were supposed to do.
