KJK at Sheffield - another soup attack

Imnobody4 · 21/09/2024 18:17

This man threw tomato juice, or soup, on Kellie-Jay Keen @ThePosieParker in Sheffield today 21.9.24

It could have been something more harmful.

Vulnerable transwoman?
Or abusive man taking a chance to terrify women?
Who knows?
Just as with every man who says he's a woman.

Alison, if you were a woman in public and someone got close enough to douse you in liquid in a demonstration of hate, would you not worry next time it could be acid? Your ignorance is astounding..

Perhaps a crash course in recognising sarcasm? ☺️

DrSpartacular · 22/09/2024 11:57

Even “just” soup could kill someone if it contains something to which they are highly allergic.

Indeed. I have an anaphylactic allergy to a common foodstuff and these sort of assaults have stopped me attending such events.

Recording someone in a public place and putting it online isn't illegal in the UK.

I meant recording a telephone call without the knowledge of the other party.

Yeah, whatever. What has that to so with KJK being assaulted yesterday? I asked earlier, perhaps you'd like to answer - are you using this whataboutery to justify, excuse, minimise and glorify the assault against KJK yesterday?

GailBlancheViola · 22/09/2024 14:39

KJK does seem to come across as someone who is quick to dish it out but cries victim very quickly the instant something happens to her.

Here's some more questions for you Christin - when has KJK tipped any liquids over someone? When has KJK assaulted anyone? What has KJK dished out other than words?

You clearly think KJK deserved being assaulted by having soup tipped over her, you clearly are victim blaming, do please enlighten us as to why.

Frankensteinian · 22/09/2024 15:18

This is the best thing that has happened to kjk since her embarrassment following the election results. She loves fighting. She feels excited by it. She will be in great form now for the next while, buoyed up by this horrible, nasty attack. Then, as per her cycle, she’ll become disgruntled and go back to trying to start a fight with other GCs. She’s only happy when she’s in the middle of a big row.

Miaow.

'Two counts of assault by beating'

So presumably he did something else other than the soup as well.

A surreal but rather wonderful side effect of today's events
was Jean Hatchet and KJK linking arms to stand together

regardless of our internal differences, when it comes to it, we are stronger together

I came on to see if this was mentioned. For long followers of this fight Kellie and Jean fell out in 2019 ish and it was around this time that A Woman's Place distanced from KJK and other women in agreement on the main issue, still publicly denounced her for tweeting other views on which they disagreed. It was the first time I'd heard of such a division among women fighting for the same cause.

Actually disagreements are inevitable because women are not a hive mind. But I've admired KJK's primary focus on the issue of women's right to own our language as the first step in the push back and never compromising that.

It was brilliant to hear Jean talk at the Let Women Speak event this weekend and to see Kellie and Jean link arms. It feels like a proper step forward. I noted also this week that LGB alliance tweeted against the use of preferred pronouns as muddying the water. Women united on issues (even if they need to be tacked one at a time and step by step) will win I reckon.

Two people assaulted. KJK and Mary who does the filming

@Frankensteinian
Tbf thats a pretty accurate assesment of the dynamic. We just need to keep her supplied with tras - and a karate class membership😅

It wasnt quite that simple, but yes its good to see a truce even if temporary.

@DrSpartacular I’m so sorry you’re not able to participate as you’d wish due to - reasonable - fears for your safety. I wouldn’t feel safe attending as a wheelchair user - I also don’t think I could cope with the sensory overload the TRAs delight in producing in response to women speaking.

SensibleSigma · 22/09/2024 18:08

It would be good to see incidents addressed in isolation. So if KJK and Women’s Place disagree on matter A, say so and move on.

No need to bring up the disagreements at every opportunity. I have no time for people whose primary contribution seems to be telling other women off for saying or doing something wrong on a previous occasion.

Every time someone pops up on a thread to accuse KJK of being practically a Nazi because hearts of oak came to an event, or JCJ of being a headgirl because of that awful snotty letter, I lose interest in everything else they say.

Everyone has something to contribute. Everyone makes mistakes. Point them out at the time without settling in for a vendetta.

Thank you. What a misogynistic arsehole.

I saw the comment about it wasn't that simple, and agree we dont need to endlessly re-hash old disputes and fall outs.

But ... as none of it was just a personality contest or something trivial it would be good to hear how positions, or maybe even just the recognition that you might have different analysis of the issue, but recognise you have a common goal.

I think some of Jean Hatchet's recent articles have shown she is taking a different position. And maybe in time she will let us know why she now seems to have a different position from a few years ago.

The Women's Place statement was used in a court in Australia this week to try and demonise a female MP. So it is particularly relevant at the moment.

Pretending that it didn't happen isn't enough, as it puts women at risk because it is used to infer that the women are fascists. And nobody likes a fascist.

We cannot pretend it didn't happen. Jean might have decided to backtrack but her original denouncement has repercussions that some women still have actual scars from.

Talkinpeace · 22/09/2024 18:40

I've met and respect both Jean and KJK.
It was an awkward arm link - that was obvious - but it HAPPENED
And its key that LWS events are for all - even those who are not KJK fan girls.

I've met JCJ - she was prickly and rude, unlike Bindel, Stock and others around her.

The bigger picture is needed

JoodyBlueToo · 22/09/2024 18:42

@AlisonDonut I hear you and I think Jean was clear enough on her original position which was that she disagreed with some of the audiences in the US and association with WOLF. So her standing up and speaking at Standing for Women this weekend seems significant enough to me. I honestly think we can pretend it didn't happen for now if it means we unite in common cause? As a united movement we are powerful. Divided we fall, and all that..... None of us are perfect.

Yes the level of noise they make is unbearable. I feel so sorry for the stewards standing next to them.

Thank you Flowers

The TRA/MRA behaviour at women's events excludes so many women for so many reasons.

Talkinpeace · 22/09/2024 19:12

As a small kid I used to go with my Mum to Speakers Corner on a Sunday Morning.
I remember seeing Tony Benn and probably heard lots of other 70s politicians and rabble rousers of the time.
None needed security to meet up and share their views.
Its a shame that Women need to now.

Good luck with this thread@Imnobody4. Talking about KJK Twitter stuff is unwelcome here.Hmm
