People were shaking, feeling threatened and horrified, apparently, by hearing views that differed from their own.

Grow up, FFS.

How on earth does someone demonstrating such a lack of insight and people skills get a job working as a social worker?

Melroses · 17/09/2024 21:17

"I identify my dog as gender fluid"

I always thought the way this was done was to ask the dog, and listen to it?

Identifying the dog's gender is not doing it right, at all. 🙄

Zebracat · 17/09/2024 21:30

So , according to the Daily Mail, this remark that caused sleepless nights and whole body shaking was “ your dog is male”.

user47 · 17/09/2024 21:35

I am GC but is it not hugely offensive to trans-women, trans-men and NB people to suggest a dog has gender dysphoria? It seems deeply transphobic to me. Imagine if JK had dressed a dog up like that and taken it on TV describing it as "Gender fluid" what would have happened.

Mollyollydolly · 17/09/2024 21:37

I feel sorry for the dog. It should be rolling about in fox shit and living its best life. That's what mine do, they'd never speak to me again if I put them in a tutu, I get the side eye if I put a rain coat on them. And mine are both bitches, one likes to hump my arm, is she a lesbian? So many questions.

TWETMIRF · 17/09/2024 21:44

The easy way to tell is to put out a pink toy and a blue toy. Whichever one they pick will let you know how they identify. Not sure how this works if the toy is in the shape of another animal, they could also be transspecies which makes you them even more special

If you check out Gleicon Analha’s Linked-in it’s hysterical, frankly. He has “seen people dying of transphobia attacks” apparently… in Brazil, which is without doubt the country with the highest incidence of death/murder of trans women - about 100 a year (30% of the approx 350 trans women murdered globally each year). These are largely because they are sex workers who are murdered by their pimps and lovers/partners. Ie not ‘transphobic attacks’ at all. This is willful misrepresentation.

Brazil is a sex tourism hotspot and 90% of transvestites/transexuals are engaged in prostitution, and those murdered are almost exclusively sex workers. The majority of these deaths are carried out by punters, partners and pimps and are committed for complex reasons of which direct transphobia is not the main cause (but I would be disingenuous to deny the likelihood that internalised homophobia and unconscious transphobia may be mixed in with the killers’ motivations). Conversely, between 4000-5000 women are killed every year. Of these 40%, as now classified since a new law put ‘femicide’ on the statute books in 2015, are expressly for ‘being a woman’. This figure is also likely understated as there is a likelihood of additional unreported deaths of many undocumented and/or trafficked female sex workers who simply ‘disappear’.

Anyway, just thought that was interesting…

Dogs see yellow and blue, they don't see pink.

From the Times article:

Pitt was told that her comments had a “detrimental impact on the mental health and wellbeing of the complainants".

If people are this fragile, should they really be in the workplace? It doesn't seem that she personally abused or threatened anyone - just expressed views which were contrary to theirs, resulting in crying and shaking and sleepless nights.

Meanwhile poor old Pablo the genderfluid dog continues on his/her/their way blithely unaware of the trouble he/she/they have caused 😄

Childish I know but do

Trans dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun?

Yet again this case has offered much unintentional hilarity. Just like the support dogs/mothers/bodyguards in the Allison Bailey case, here we have betutued gender fluid dogs and batshit owners unable to face reality.

And it's only Tuesday 😑

The fact you fall for this shows alot .. like the media doesn't constantly twist stories to put a bad point on lgbt people

What exactly do you think has been 'twisted' that we've 'fallen for'? This employment tribunal and the monetary award seem all too real.

Thatenbymum · 17/09/2024 23:50

@ErrolTheDragon read the article the person had whole thing because of being transphobic NOT towards the dog the media just used that as a title because some people like you will take that and run with it as any excuse for your hate towards trans people!

And there was indeed a "trans dog" involved, though I'll admit it does also make a juicy hook for a story.

But come on. A story involves a trans dog, you can't expect a journalist to ignore it.

You do realise Elizabeth Pitt won the case?

Maybe best read the documents if you think the press has 'twisted' anything.

It's quite amusing, in a way, that the guy with the dog wanted to "prompt debate about gender", but evidently didn't want any actual debate about gender. And the super-inclusive LGBTQIA+++++ group did not prove at all inclusive to lesbians who didn't toe the party line.

caringcarer · 18/09/2024 01:27

Madness.

I'm just disappointed the dog wasn't a German SHEpHERd

Thoroughly enjoyed the LinkedIn CV of the interestingly named dog owner.

It includes:
Conducting equality impact assessments
"Professor of Master in People Management"
Conflict Mediator - from his Masters: "The aim of conflict mediation is to transform a dispute in a peaceful way and to facilitate mutual understanding on the social, legal and political levels."
Online consultant in conflict management
