What a surprise! …not,
And this is despite so many people were asking #IsItOk for a 51 year old man to be competing in a women’s race?

#IsItOK to self-identify as disabled to take part in the Paralympics? No.
#IsItOK to self-identify as female to take part in female Paralympic events? Yes.

Are you on X?

This is a great comment and needs adding to the Last Leg's handle/threads.

I used to watch TLL but got really pissed off at the way they spoke about JK Rowling. Seem to be woke for the sake of wokery.
I can’t watch the show anymore.
Also, letting a man compete in a women’s race isn’t inclusivity , it’s cheating and likely to exclude a woman from winning a medal.

I'm not on X, but took to the liberty of c&p'ing @YesterdaysFuture 's post and putting it on the LL FB page. Hope that's OK.

Sport is different to just being nice to the person in your office who has switched from trousers to skirts do to speak ... I don't care what people want to wear gendered clothing wise, I don't care what they want to be called, even pronouns don't get me too riled (though if you look like a man eg Sam Smith, forgive me from forgetting that it's them!) BUT sport is about safety and fairness. My dd plays rugby and men playing would be dangerous, no matter how many hormones or surgeries you have had. She's signed petitions etc. she's short, how would it be fair to be on the field with a person who decided age 30 to transition at 6'2 and all that male muscle bulk

It's such a great way to put it, isn't it?

@YesterdaysFuture if you're on X, it's worth copying in some big accounts in case it can get amplified. Obviously there's no guarantee they'll see your post but worth a shot. Definitely so if any big accounts follow you.
Hopefully the noise levels on this can get as loud as the boxing ones.
JKR is doing a cracking job with her beautifully worded message (screenshot above in the thread).

Used to watch it, but they totally outsmugged themselves a good while back.

This.

Justwrong68 · 03/09/2024 18:13

I might be wrong but could Adam disagree but has to read his script out he'll lose his job?

Runskiyoga · 03/09/2024 18:32

No, I don't think Adam is under duress, but I have heard Josh sound more aware of the issues iirc

duc748 · 03/09/2024 18:50

Surely the show is very much Adam's puppy, he's in charge?

Mollyollydolly · 03/09/2024 18:53

I remember when The Last Leg started, I really liked it. Now I haven't watched for years. I find them unbearable. Wankers.

Done. I've copied in a few people with interest in sport fairness, a couple of whom are mutual follows. I have no idea if they'll see it from my tiny account but it's worth a go🤞

Want to bet that the Last Leg probably is on its Last Legs and liable to be a target for 'budget cuts' fairly soon.

The audience has moved on. The subject has moved on. The show that used to talk about reactionary dinosaurs, is a reactionary dinosaur.

SirChenjins · 03/09/2024 11:45

Wonder if Adam would be as supportive of this version of ‘inclusive’ if someone closed their eyes when running and claimed they were visually impaired in order to take part.

A closer comparison would be wearing a pair of slightly scratched sunglasses

Stevie Wonder wears sunglasses. If you wear sunglasses you are identifying as blind like Stevie Wonder.

I suspect that the comedians circuit was always strong misogynistic - it's just that the left leaning types masked that well when female rights aligned with their own desires.

Now, when there's an opportunity to cheer on the bros and throw women under the bus, they're all over it. 🙄

This is the truth. I'm pretty appalled by Hills. He was considered one of the nice ones back in his "Go, you big red fire engine!" festival days.

Keepingcosy · 03/09/2024 19:46

Even when I was their target audience DH and I switched off. It was too sanctimonious, try hard and not that funny.

This does not surprise me because they have to fall further and further down the rabbit hole in order to continue to be 'diverse & inclusive' to the point they defend 50 year old men competing against disabled women.

It's actually cringe worthy now. What an extreme & embarrassing view.

Waitwhat23 · 03/09/2024 19:56

I'm another who stopped watching years ago. The misogynistic smuggery was too much for me and they strongly reminded me of the type on Facebook who does a post along the lines of 'if you don't agree with me on (politics/religion/I dunno, whether you like the US version of Ghosts), then you might as well go ahead and unfriend me because I don't see the point in talking to you!!!!'. Just tedious.

I've just been looking on X at the #isitok and seen a post from Payton McNabb. I'd not heard of her so googled her and found the article below. She was knocked unconscious, paralysed and left with brain damage after being hit in the face by a ball hit by a transgender opponent in volleyball. There are also photos further down the article of a previous opponent of Imane Khelif. Horrific. And the bloody men on TLL crow that this is progress.

High school volleyball player, 17, is left paralyzed with brain damage

Payton McNabb, now 19 and from North Carolina, has urged the Olympics not to include transgender athletes in its boxing competition. She warned it was dangerous for women players.

‘Very inclusive’ - if you’re an over the hill bloke.

Useful photo.

Gosh. do you have a link for this photo? I want to share it.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 04/09/2024 09:20

I wanted to try and think the best of him and that it was actually a sly dig ie “so inclusive they let men pretend to be women” but probably not 😖

How did we reach a point where allowing this is 'kind' and opposing men hitting women is mean?

AllHisCaterpillarFriends · 04/09/2024 09:37

I had never thought about identifying as disabled - I've just checked some swimming times and in several disciplines I'd be confident of getting a medal.
It is ablephobic to stop me from competing .
