Another crack in the wall - Denmark

There has been the start of an interesting debate in Denmark where the serving minister for Digitalisation and Equality, Marie Bjerre (Venstre) has published an opinon piece (Kronik) in which she argues for a change of focus in the trans debate and a recognition that sex based realities and the rights and boundaries of women need to be considered. This has obviously provoked a backlash from trans activist groups but she has stood by her guns, giving further TV interviews and adressing an event at Cophenhagen Pride last week (where she was not warmly recieved and many turned their backs on her) in which she continues to call for a change in the debate with focus to balancing the rights of all rather than trans demands
She uses the Danish performance artist/provokeur Ibbi Pippi as an example of the issues arising

This is the article in Danish but I will post a (poor) translation of the main points in the next post
https://jyllands-posten.dk/debat/kronik/ECE17337761/ibipippi-har-faaet-mine-oejne-op-for-hvor-problematisk-juridisk-koensskifte-er/

A small thing in a small and very liberal/accepting nation (and one of the first to bring in self ID due to a Dentons Playbook style campaign) but just another sign of the debate changing worldwide

What a great piece. Clear and comprehensive.

Does she have support in her party,@Didactylos?

I see you've already answered my question, OP.

The minister has come in for a lot of critisism for not being able to name any Danish examples of the problem (men in womans spaces) apart from Ibi Pippi who is doing it as performance art, (international examples havent been raised much) - but she has countered that by stating that it shouldnt need to happen before setting boundaries.

Absolutely.
Someone once said to me, we may learn by others mistakes, we may learn by our own mistakes, or we may not learn at all.

This earlier thread suggests that it was / is existing Government policy

So if they earlier thread is correct, has this come up in the public domain because of some sort of pressure on the Government or ... ?

I brought it up because its been interesting to watch it unfold over the last few weeks - not only is sex realism background policy and discussed in parliament but government ministers taking the issue into the public arena/challenging the recently imposed thought orthodoxies openly, questioning the ability to change legal sex and the identity number, and not being intimidated into apologies or backing down. After writing the piece and facing a backlash the minister went on to engage and continue to point out the problems it causes practically and socially, with no 'reeducation' or mea culpa which would have been unlikely 2-3 years ago

Some excellent points although haven't RTFT. However object to this issue being lumped in with the general misuse of the term 'woke'. Do look up original meaning if you don't know. Also disagree with 'not allowed to wear women's clothing' which is just stupid, stereotyping ridiculously and ignorant of history. Also of course trans men are invisible in this argument. I wonder why...

The women's clothing thing was a mistranslation that has been corrected.

Interesting on the difference between Scandinavia and the UK. I lived for many years in a Scandi country. I suspect self ID would have less impact there as women, in general, are better respected and treated than women are in the UK. I think there would still be more social stigma for a man mistreating women or invading women’s spaces there than there would be in the UK.

So saying no problems have been recorded in Scandi countries with self-ID (not entirely true, but sometimes used as an argument) means self-ID would be okay in the UK is misguided. Society dictates who uses single sex spaces and there seem to be far more men in the UK who are openly pushing to ignore those boundaries.
