I hope all the women are okay.

Astonishingly the reporting so far seems quite neutral and even handed.

Trans chaos hits ‘women will speak’ rally

A women’s rights gathering collapsed into chaos on Saturday afternoon after some counter Transgender Liberation protesters swarmed the rally and threw eggs and water balloons at speakers.

And the ABC hasn’t mentioned it at all.

That poster "Queers bash back" makes me incandescent
No woman has ever bashed a man over this issue, but men bash women every 6 minutes in Victoria.
The tasteless hypocrisy and hideous misogyny is eyewatering.
The misogyny in Australia is eyewatering, nearly as bad as NZ
And the 'progressive' men are nightmarish in their fraudulence.

I lived there many many years and I can attest that scratch the surface and its still like the film "Wake in Fright'

A 36-year-old Brunswick woman was arrested at the scene for allegedly assaulting police.

A woman? I wonder if that is true?

Almost certainly not

Snowypeaks · 17/08/2024 15:56

"Imaginary violence is violence and deserves to be met with actual violence" is the vibe. Admittedly less snappy than their slogan but on the other hand, much closer to the truth.

Christinapple · 17/08/2024 16:09

"women's rights rally"

You mean "anti-trans rally".

Interestingly, the only person arrested for violence was a woman although the article doesn't make it clear what "side" she was on.

And you and everyone else knows perfectly well why its called a woman, and that all the violence, threats and harrassment comes from tras. They are now notorious for it.

Afterall thats what this whole American fad is built on - forcing lies.

There was a time Aussies prided themselves on standing strong against American indoctrination, but no more, now they bend over and take it like lapdogs.
Australias greatest weakness, the desperate need to be liked by the other kids who ignore them.

ApocalipstickNow · 17/08/2024 16:27

We don’t know what sort of woman it was, Chris, a man woman or a woman woman so hold your scolding until you’re sure it’s not one you can hand wave away, eh?

Nope. Women's Rights Rally.

As for the other part of your post be better if you waited for the facts before you pronounce judgement otherwise you may well end up looking rather silly.

Carceral feminism = you'll be reading about a good three-quarters of this lot in some future nonce-related arrest news.

The organiser of the women’s protest is Māori. Not a group popular with fascists.

Who was that interesting Māori woman who encountered all sorts of difficulties and a mass of ostracism | resistance around the time of Laurel Hubbard? Anyone recall?

The Māori women I failed to recall earlier.

What a surprise, men being violent? I'm so shocked.

What I said is correct, the entire point of the rally is anti-trans. This is why there was a counter-protest.

Similar to when Kelly-Jay Keen went to NZ (in an attempt) to have an anti-trans rally I believe.

how are you defining "anti trans"? Would that be the simple statement of fact that men are not, and can never be, women? Or is there something more substantial I have missed? I can wait.

Time to stop the toddler politics and start engaging with the issues of competing rights, safeguarding children and women's rights.

The entire point is:
Anti- state lying, anti subjugation of women in deference to mens’ demands, anti- brainwashing a destroying of children’s minds and bodies.

No man is a woman.

Any state saying they are is lying. Any women being told they no longer have to right to women’s sports, women’s’prisons, health care dedicated to their bodies and named accordingly, privacy, dignity and because a man is pretending to be a woman is women’s subjugation for a male deman delusion. Any country drawing children into a disastrous illusion, with the addition of harmful treatments and surgeries is deeply wrong.

DeanElderberry · 17/08/2024 16:53

'Anti trans' means what exactly? That we hate seeing daughters, cousins, nieces, sisters, causing irreparable harm to their female bodies, and we call the system that encourages and enables them to do that 'trans'? I am pretty anti to be fair. Not anti them, I'm terribly pro them and would like to see them protected.

Women's right to not be harmed, or duped into harming themselves in the deluded belief that doing so will protect them from discrimination and male violence.

they're not unthought out, though, are they, they’re all the same, well trodden comments. I suspect there’s a lot of hard thinking about all this going on.

BurnerName1 · 17/08/2024 17:16

Yes the 'woman' arrested doesn't look like any woman I've ever seen based on the video of the arrest Hmm

No, Christinapple.

The point of these rallies is that women, and girls, (aka female people) want the right for some things to be just for us - to exclude all male people, no exceptions.

Things like women’s public loos, changing rooms, rape crisis support groups, refuges, sports, prisons etc etc. Also social opportunities like lesbian dating apps, nights out, and so on.

Because women, aka female people, having been oppressed abused and controlled by male people for literally millennia, and being physiologically relatively vulnerable to male people in general, need some spaces - both physical and virtual - where male people can’t go.

For safety, dignity, solidarity, affirmation of our own female experience, and sometimes just the joy of being in a female only environment.

Women’s rights.

And it’s my firm belief that the only motivation for opposing those rights is male supremacism and misogyny.

A belief that male people have the right to control what female people may or may not do, to compel us to accept the presence of male people in ALL public spaces/services, to deny us the right to anything exclusively female at all.

Male supremacist, misogynist bigots.

That u, hun?

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-08-17/women-arrested-for-allegedly-assaulting-police/104238394

This is a video of the protest including the arrest (around 1.45 and then at the end being taken away by police)

If that person being led away at the end is the 'woman arrested', it would seem that in fact there was 'a "woman" arrested'.

Mmmnotsure · 17/08/2024 17:23

The "woman" being arrested is in a full face balaclava. That would be a deviation from the norm, presentation-wise, male/female.
