Major - American Society of Plastic Surgeons - evidence for gender surgery on children low quality

Big news the US medical situation is changing before the first detrans court cases hit.

A Consensus No Longer
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons becomes the first major US medical association to challenge the consensus of medical groups over “gender-affirming care” for minors.

But the U.S. consensus now appears to have its first big fracture. In July, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a major medical association representing 11,000 members and over 90 percent of the field in the U.S. and Canada, told me that it “has not endorsed any organization’s practice recommendations for the treatment of adolescents with gender dysphoria.” ASPS acknowledged that there is “considerable uncertainty as to the long-term efficacy for the use of chest and genital surgical interventions” and that “the existing evidence base is viewed as low quality/low certainty.”

I think the plastic surgeons are seeing the writing on the wall. It's dawning on them that they'll get a high proportion of the blame (possibly unfairly). They are the 'butchers'

kiterunning · 03/09/2024 07:46

I think there's also going to be a massive spike in mental health issues for parents trying to come to terms with guilt after allowing their 12 year old daughters to remove their breasts.

ArabellaScott · 03/09/2024 08:03

Hmm. I'm struggling to feel empathy, but these parents were sold bullshit lies by governments and medics, abetted by coercive narratives about suicide from activists. What a nightmare.

I think this statement from the plastic surgeons is a great start. I wonder what WPATH will say about the latest doubling down.

Nothing I suspect. Try and pretend it hasn't happened.

Think they are more worried about the Congress probe which is getting going and the law suits:

This is getting better and better. Thank you for this. Couldn’t happen to a better person.

Anyone who has been duped into waving the Progress Pride flag, or using drag queens as entertainment for children, or celebrating 'identity' probably feels complicit to some extent in this butchery, and may well dig in even harder to avoid recognising the problem.

I've taken my child to a drag queen library session. Fully clothed man with make up and a frock. No different from a pantomime dame in my eyes. No sexual innuendo or references to transgender issues, just someone in a bodacious outfit reading a book and being a bit dramatic.

How does that make me complicit in butchery?!

Have you taken your child to a library session where a female firefighter, a farmer, a nurse, a retired adult, a street cleaner, someone with a disability or any of the other roles that glue our society together is invited to read to children? To give children a sense of what our society is like?

Maybe ask who is benefitting from listening to an adult dressed as a grotesque parody of a woman reading aloud? I suspect it's not little children.

RainWithSunnySpells · 03/09/2024 09:13

Harold, what book(s) was read at the drag queen library session?

HoppityBun · 03/09/2024 09:44

My worry is if the NHS is sued. We can’t afford to pay. In the US it’ll be insurance companies paying: over here, it’s us.

TheKeatingFive · 03/09/2024 09:51

The nhs gets sued all the time - the costs are built in to the funding model.

Presumably the compensation for this will be massive? Children sterilised before / during puberty. Life long incontinence, osteoporosis, limited sexual function - not to mention the predicted impairment of brain development. These are potentially huge sums.

It seems the victims will have masses of evidence of medical malpractice and failure to safeguard, not just post Cass but all the queer theory organisations (Stonewall, Mermaids, Gendered Intelligence, Gires and countless others) openly pushing changing sex as a positive at children below the age of consent and the trusted organisations who are meant to safeguard children (schools, DfE, Ofsted, CQC, the police, NHS etc) failing to do so - instead giving these dangerous organisations influence and a platform.
No wonder the lawyers are circling and gathering evidence.

ArabellaScott · 03/09/2024 10:56

Class action could encompass a wide range of organisations.

ArabellaScott · 03/09/2024 10:57

Mermaids 'we don't do medical advice' for example.

ASPS stands by its statement that there more data is needed before it can support the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgery for minors.
