I'm posting this as a new thread as it is more a resource than a discussion, and so thought those who want to can take bits from it to post as part of the many threads on FWR about.

And it may all be about who gets control of the 1028 Olympics. Angry

This is the tradreader version of quite a long twiX, so for those who can access X (and there may be additional posts) go to https://x.com/slatzism/status/1819427537740558848?s=46&t=v-c-_XT3Lv6Ow-vgwIBPeA

Thread by @Slatzism on Thread Reader App

@Slatzism: I absolutely despise essay-posting but as the co-owner of the outlet (@ReduxxMag) that broke the news about Khelif and Lin and started this wildfire, I feel compelled to put to bed some of the bullshit su...…

Just to say how much we owe to reduxx - https://reduxx.info/ - for any number of illuminating stories.

Each of which could make a thread on FWR.

I tried to start a thread about the Face of Dublin Pride but realised most of the words to reflect the story would get the thread deleted.

So if anyone wants to start a thread on that in way that will not get MNHQ in a tizz I think others on FWR would respond (ie dont bury it on here IMO)!

But in term of this situation, its another where opposing male political groups use or abuse women's rights, not because they care about the issue but to score points off each other.

Just another sad reflection that women, let alone women's rights and issues do not even permeate into so many male brains.

Edited

You're abso-fraggin-lutely correct about that! I started donating to them last year (took money I had been donating elsewhere and reallocated it to something female-led and female-orientated) and I'm so glad to be able to see them get greater recognition for their hard work in recent months.

Me too @IwantToRetire and @UtopiaPlanitia. I have to say when I first read the REDUXX story I wasn’t sure it’d be picked up in mainstream media and I was disappointed about that as I know how thorough REDUXX are but also how people might discount them, nir having heard of them. I’m so pleased the story has been picked up elsewhere and they’ve managed to expose this, it’s great work.

As usual Reduxx have attempted to properly report the IBA press conference in Paris

REDUXX

Yesterday, the International Boxing Association held a press conference addressing the concerns surrounding Algerian boxer Imane Khelif and Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-Ting. 𝘙𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘹𝘹 has created a supercut of relevant sections.

TIMESTAMPS:

𝟬𝟬:𝟮𝟯 - Both boxers had the ability to appeal their disqualification at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with IBA covering the majority of their legal costs.

𝟬𝟮:𝟰𝟵 - The International Olympic Committee knew that Lin and Khelif were male, but did nothing.

𝟬𝟯:𝟮𝟬 - Both the Algerian and Taiwanese Olympic Committees have refused to allow IBA to release the results of the tests.

𝟬𝟯:𝟱𝟬 - "Read between the lines."

𝟬𝟳:𝟬𝟮 - Dr. Filippatos: "The biological world does not change."

𝟭𝟬:𝟰𝟬 - A ringside examination of Lin and Khelif in 2022 prompted a blood examination to seek answers about their karyotype.

𝟭𝟭:𝟮𝟬 - "Women's category must be only women."

𝟭𝟯:𝟰𝟬 - Question from a journalist regarding why the IBA waited until 2023 to disqualify Lin and Khelif.

𝟭𝟱:𝟱𝟬 - "The safety of the boxers comes as the first and most important rule."

𝟭𝟵:𝟰𝟬 - "It's not discrimination, it's just the rules."

𝟮𝟮:𝟮𝟬 - Lin and Khelif are biologically male.

𝟮𝟯:𝟯𝟬 - The women's category must be defined by those who have a female karyotype (XX).

𝟮𝟯:𝟰𝟬 - Question from a journalist on "Russian disinformation campaigns."

𝟮𝟱:𝟬𝟱 - Lin and Khelif were reported by other boxers and coaches. They were subjected to two tests in two different countries for certainty.

𝟮𝟱:𝟮𝟬 - "There is no conspiracy theory." Again reiterating that Algeria and Taiwan will not allow the IBA to release the results of the tests.

𝟮𝟱:𝟰𝟲 - Question from a journalist asking why Lin and Khelif were only disqualified after their failed chromosomal tests rather than suspended.

𝟮𝟲:𝟯𝟮 - Question from a journalist on the "timing" of the press conference.

𝟮𝟴:𝟮𝟬 -"If the athletes want to prove they were born women, they have to do it themselves. They didn't do that."

They also have a video but all of this is only on twitter/X https://x.com/ReduxxMag/status/1820820467231690838

Just posting this here as it is about Reduxx although could be in the thread about Asian Grooming Gangs.

The group called Actual Gender Critical Left (there was a long thread about them at an earlier FiLia conference called the elephant in the room or something) have a thread on facebook about Reduxx. Quote:

Anna Slatz, co-founder and editor in chief at Reduxx, posts like this all the time. She has nearly 90,000 followers, including women who call themselves feminists. Scarcely anyone ever challenges her. Some gay men have got upset about her homophobia, of late, but that's about it. This post is highly illustrative of the racism that's now become such a feature of the online 'terf' world.

In response to this:

“let infinity migrants into your country because one of them might kick a ball good or make tasty curry” has got to be the funniest argument shitlibs have for open borders.
they think it makes them sound inclusive and tolerant when really it just confirms they’re completely dissociated from the reality of the situation AND insulated from the potential consequences of what they advocate for.
“I get the kebab. You get the rape.”

I know AGCL go out of their way to say all "terfs" are right wing reactionaries - but it seems to me they have a humour by-pass.

or they just cant get over how many women (not all unthinking "fans") respond to KJK and Reduxx.

It would have been nice if they had attempted an analysis of Reduxx and the service it supplies, but as usual the resort to personal attacks.

My only reservation about the Reduxx reporting is that they give the IBA too much respect e.g.
Claims of the IBA's "corruption" can basically be summarized to "Russia bad, Russians evil." The IBA has literally no history of bullshitting about the sex of boxers involved and it doesn't benefit them in any kind of way to do so.

There's no need for the quotation marks around the IBA's "corruption" - it's history of match-fixing and dodgy financial dealings were established by the McLean report, which was commission by the IBA itself, in an effort to turn a corner and reform itself - which it may or may not have succeeded in doing.

The IBA is sound on what a woman is, but it is dodgy in many other ways, admits it was corrupt, and it is pro-Russian and was rescued financially by Gazprom. It's a mistake to frame it as 'IBA good, IOC bad'.

The IBA's tests on Lin and Khelif may or may not have been entirely above-board, but people who are rightly suspicious of the IBA are always going to dismiss them as questionable 'therefore' we're all bullying that poor poor woman...

Even the most ardent critic of the IBA , however, has to at the very least admit that the tests cast doubt on Lin and Khelif's eligibility to box in the Olympics, and should have been repeated.

It's all a bit irrelevant now of course, as there's the infamous Le Point interview where one of Khelif's trainers openly admits that Khelif was horrified to learn, as a result of the IBA tests, that 'she might not be a girl'.. because there was a 'problem with her chromosomes'..

The IBA did something useful in testing Lin and Khelif, but they are not 'the good guys.'

AliasGrace47 · 14/10/2024 00:35

IWant, why is Slatz claiming migrants are more prone to rape? I agree in some cultures sexual assault is condoned a lot, and this should be considered w immigration, but she is affiliated w the far right Rebel News, so I do wonder if she holds racist views. She is doing good work on the trans issue, but I doesn't mean we have to uncritically accept all of what she says ofc. I agree w Marie about the IBA, her judgement seems questionable on this.
I know when at uni she let a neo-Nazi write an op-ed for the college paper. I agree w interviewing him, but the op-ed was too much imo. I think she I reacting against superficial wokeness, & I agree w a lot of what she writes, but I think she sometimes takes it too far.

You can lead a TRA to data but you can't make them think.

Ah, excellent paraphrasing there, Bint!
