Thank you, that clarifies a number of points.

I hadn’t realised control of the female category in all sports is down to the relevant governing bodies, and that because Olympic boxing doesn’t currently have one recognised by the IOC, the IOC is deciding the gender rules for it. It’s utterly shocking that in boxing, of all sports, there is no control over who enters the female competition.

Thank you for sharing this, it’s been updated since I first saw it. It’s such a thorough and useful thread.

I think what I find more shocking is not just that there’s some void and no one has made a rule, but that the IOC has made a rule and it’s… what’s on a passport. Because no one’s ever tried to cheat or find loopholes in the Olympics before right? The fact they think that is an appropriate ‘rule’ shows their utter disregard for women’s safety and the integrity of female sport.

I guess we should be thankful they have outsourced the decision to individual sports if the IOC’s critical thinking skills are so utterly non-existent.

Thank you for that! I feel like I’ve been going mad seeing all the gaslighting posts supporting these boxers, reprimanding anyone with an issue as “your bigoted uncle”. I knew it couldn’t have been utterly baseless and based on their looks as people have been suggesting. Thankful for from clarity at last.

Yes its very useful, just link the article telling them it was written by theowner of the mag that broke the story, and walk away.
They can bluster all they want, but all they need is there.

So much of the argument from the other side here has been the tiniest step away from "a Russian said it so it must be false". Pure xenophobia.

This is exactly what we needed, full facts. Especially about the made up lie about Russian boxers and the IBA being the reason for the prior disqualification.

Can some one explain to me who is the writer of the piece, secondly who is Pagluachi the Hated. And what is AP, is it Associated Press?

If you look on Facebook today, there are a lot of post supporting her, as her Dad has come out and said she was raised as a girl and is a women and should be treated as one. Its a shame if her DSD wasn't discovered until adulthood but it doesn't mean that she won't have gone through male pubity and have all the advantages of a male body from that point of view. Once they found out they should no longer be eligible to partake in women's sports.

Of course to be useful, people need to read it. The truly entrenched won't sully their eyes with it, any more than they would with JKR's essay or original tweet.

I tried to start a thread about the Face of Dublin Pride but realised most of the words to reflect the story would get the thread deleted.

So if anyone wants to start a thread on that in way that will not get MNHQ in a tizz I think others on FWR would respond (ie dont bury it on here IMO)!

But in term of this situation, its another where opposing male political groups use or abuse women's rights, not because they care about the issue but to score points off each other.

Just another sad reflection that women, let alone women's rights and issues do not even permeate into so many male brains.

Strangely i can see their logic in using passports - it's simple, defined in law, and passes the buck to others. It means they know they ll be in trouble either way
