End of month list of gardens needing extra plants This time I am changing the order as some are less in immediate need than others.

Pilgrim Tucker, a PhD student, is still Challenging Bullying and Discrimination at the Open University. Still short of target despite a couple of good donations recently.

Help Sarah’s Legal Challenge to Secure Female Only Rape Crisis Therapy - target was updated and would be good to push this over £100k.

Simon Chambers was Assaulted and refused service at a pub for supporting women’s rights. There are 23 claimants in this action. There will be a Review of the cases before the County Court Judge in Belfast on 16th September 2024.

Almut Gadow is still suing the Open University - standing against indoctrination and for academic freedom Her lawyer is now at Doyle Clayton, who represented Maya, LGB Alliance and others. Hearing will be in Feb/March next year but she's a long way from target and the OU need to see women will go on fighting.

Eleanor Frances was victimised after whistleblowing over Civil Service impartiality. Initial target reached but stretch target.

Dr Laura Favaro has a case against City University, look for Academic freedom for feminists

Linzi Smith was banned and spied on for her beliefs

Ursula Doyle was "hounded out of my job in publishing" and has a stretch target.

James Esses who was Expelled from my university course for holding gender critical views has settled with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy but the case against "the Metanoia Institute for expelling me from my Masters’ degree" continues. No update since December.

Sara Morrison is bringing a Discrimination case against Belfast Film Festival The case has been listed for Hearing for 5 days, commencing on 13th January 2025.

Let women play pool! has a stretch target, not even half way yet.

You can still Help Emma sue David Lloyd - garden is not in the usual place and she is less than half way to target.

Emma Bateman has been expelled from the Green party yet again, Look for The Green Party must respect our sex! It's a long way from target.

Amelia Sparrow is Challenging Bullying and Harassment in the Liberal Democrat Party. The Lib Dems have admitted they were at fault with Natalie Bird, remedies hearing in August.

Lizzie Pitt, Gender critical lesbian discriminated against by local authority has a court date in August in Cambridge. The target was increased recently and the garden is currently flourishing.

As always please remind me of anyone I've overlooked.

Thank you so much for the support @anyolddinosaur and wonderful gardeners Flowers

Remember unlike the barren carpark that the Good Law Project tries to plant in our gardens tend to bloom in an incredible way. The smallest seed is getting incredible results.

Laura Favaro's case against City University has been settled and she seems happy with the result. Made the mistake of linking to her crowdfunder as her statement is there so mumsnet have deleted it.

Remaining funds for legal expenses will be reallocated to other similar cases.

A reminder for anyone who got paid recently - the number of cases will hopefully reduce as more employers accept their responsibilities but people still need help.

Almut Gadow's case against the Open University still looks to have quite a shortfall.

I wondered if Laura Favaro was alluding to that when she said that her surplus funds would go to "someone with a case similar to mine, including loss of employment and the inability to cover legal fees otherwise" and then tweeted about Almut's case shortly after.

And also Amelia Sparrow's page says "Any unused funds will support Almut Gadow, who is standing against indoctrination and for academic freedom." Which again reads like Almut's known to be struggling to cover her fees.

anyolddinosaur · 04/08/2024 08:50

We know the OU likes to make cases against it as expensive as possible. There were also people posting here from the OU (because they knew things they would not have done unless closely involved) trying to discourage support for her.

If Lizzie does get her costs I hope she'll donate anything spare to other cases although even when costs are awarded they rarely cover everything.

Hopefully as Almut's case gets closer to a court date there will be more donations.

And of course the OU is the only organisation to be the sued party in two of the cases above.

anyolddinosaur · 06/08/2024 08:31

Pilgrim has sent a long email to those who donated and asked to be kept up to date. It sets out what is currently happening at the OU and it's clear that they have not learnt a thing. I'm considering if I can, and should, post part of that or if it should still be considered a private email.

It does mean that winning other cases should be possible.

Do you mean the update that arrived a couple of months ago, or have I missed another one while on holiday?

Pilgrim Tucker's update was particularly depressing in that it sounds like her case involves some of the same people, in the same department, as Jo Phoenix's case. And still the OU defends these people's behaviour through the courts a second time, after they've been found to have harassed and discriminated against one GC woman.

It would be good to see a PhD student win, after Raquel Rosario Sánchez. I have no doubt a lot of students are bearing the brunt of all this, and just don't have the wherewithal to stand up to it.

anyolddinosaur · 06/08/2024 11:20

Definitely more recent, last few days. It includes this

"Since the Phoenix tribunal judgement there has been no indication that the university has taken any disciplinary action against those involved in bullying those with GC views. Rather it appears the opposite, as each announcement regarding the tribunal or review has stressed that support is being provided to OU tribunal witnesses, despite the majority of these being heavily criticised for dishonesty and bullying conduct by the tribunal judge, who stated that disciplinary action should have been taken against them. And still those involved with bullying continue to sit in positions of influence and on decision making committees within the university."
