Thankyou Igneococcus, great article which succinctly describes the issues at play. I will be forwarding it to people I know who claim not to understand (strangely, they are mostly men…)

borntobequiet · 12/07/2024 22:37

Great article, thanks. I too will share.

Brilliant article, I hope it is widely read

Catsmere · 12/07/2024 23:51

Excellent article. It's a male supremacist movement, nothing less. And don't governments just love that.

Ramblingnamechanger · 13/07/2024 00:25

Says it all really. And to think we were barely allowed to speak the words a year ago. We want reassurances that we won’t be tossed to the wall in exchange for dropping puberty blockers

LiterallyOnFire · 13/07/2024 00:29

Thanks.

duc748 · 13/07/2024 01:04

Yes, that just says it all, doesn't it? And now people can't say, it's just coming from the Telegraph and the Mail.

unwashedanddazed · 13/07/2024 01:53

I see all that quiet, polite, working behind the scenes by 'actual feminists' has paid off.

Not.

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 13/07/2024 02:44

What an incredibly succinct article, written with great skill.

Everytime I read those quotes it just makes me want to scream why oh why oh why don't you care about WOMEN!

Thanks for links.

A worry for me is that Labour will get all the bad stuff out of the way early on in the hopes that it will have all settled before the next election. Yes, they are thinking like that!

I think JK Rowling alone will make that an impossible dream. Then there's dozens of other high profile GCs like Jo Cherry, Doc Stock, Helen Joyce, Julie Bindel etc. Then there's Mumsnet and the wider public.
Kier may think he'll succeed in settling them all down, but I don't think he's up to it.
Reading the article I wonder why Conservatives chose to enact emergency legislation to protect children with the puberty blocker ban, but didn't bother amending the EA? Not saying that anything wrong with pb ban, just maybe they're fine with the erosion of women's rights so they have a front to fight on at next GE.

CanFishMicrowaveSoup · 13/07/2024 08:51

That sets it all out nicely.

LunaNorth · 13/07/2024 08:52

Great article, but oh so depressing and frustrating, in that when it’s all laid out like that, I just can’t see how anyone could claim they don’t see the problem with trans ideology.

They must have their eyes screwed shut and their hands clamped over their ears.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 13/07/2024 08:59

Thank you for the links. That article was plainly written too.

Next election is 10 months area the English county councils. Then 2026 is Scotland and Wales government. A lot at stake there.

There are too many people telling the truth now. Plus following the gender line has too many impacts in too many areas.

Also gender stuff is a really easy thing for the Tories to attack. With the disaster SNP had in Scotland increasingly the safe option is steer away from gender stuff.

Igmum · 13/07/2024 09:16

Spot on. I hope Starmer reads it and takes note. It was public realisation of the insanity of the TRA demands that brought down Nicola Sturgeon.

Helleofabore · 13/07/2024 10:05

Thank you as usual, Igneococcus. She* *has summed that up nicely.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 13/07/2024 10:12

Thanks for the link, such a good article.
I’m exactly one of those voters who rather reluctantly gave Labour the benefit of the doubt on women’s rights. I’m anxious about how this goes!

UpThePankhurst · 13/07/2024 11:20

Thank you for the link, excellent article. She nails every point and gets it all out there in clear, straight forward terms, particularly that this works to enable male dominance, not equality.

We all know first hand how Starmer deals with MN having inconvenient and difficult questions: he does his absolute best not to answer. Then when driven to it he looks furious and the fist clenches. And then he says he understands and supports women (with only hours left to women walking into voting booths.)

I am waiting with an open mind to discover whether he is a man of integrity and honesty, or whether he is a misogynist with a very doubtful relationship with the truth and good faith. His move.

DuesToTheDirt · 13/07/2024 11:27

This article is right on the money.

"If men can be women, women no longer exist as an identifiable group. All women’s spaces and categories become, de facto, mixed-sex."

"What trans rights mean in practice is male dominance. "

It's baffling why so many people, including women, are promoting this, and why many more just don't care.

duc748 · 13/07/2024 12:02

Then there's dozens of other high profile GCs like Jo Cherry, Doc Stock, Helen Joyce, Julie Bindel etc.

To be fair, I'd say that vast majority of the British public would never have heard of any of them. JKR is different, obviously.
