This happened near me - I'm really shocked that he only received a suspended sentence 😞

Is this a trans reference?

Can't have a single topic on mumsnet anymore that isn't about or becomes about trans people can we.

(Can you take your transphobic views out of here please Christina while we are talking about male violence?

I don't think anyone is trying to link this to trans men.)

I think this case should be posted on Aibu - it's important people know about it.

“Green indicated he intended to appeal against his conviction and it is due to be heard at Swindon Crown Court in September.”

What does this mean? His appeal will be heard in the crown court? If I were him I’d keep my head down, but I’m not a massive entitled narcissist.

gardenmusic · 11/07/2024 08:20

Zwicky, maybe, just maybe his sentence will be increased.
Anyone know if that can be done?
Entitled knob!

@Christinapple could you explain why your only engagement on this thread is against a perceived slight to transwomen rather than any kind if disapproval against this convicted criminal who was showing signs of wanting to harm a random woman, possibly in the worst possible way?

Why is that the thing you object to? Which is the greater wrong and the greater harm?

Why do you always prioritise men?

It speaks volumes that you have not commented on the subject matter of this thread. You just need to read the responses to see how it affects women, and yet...you just don't get it.

Why don't we all raise this case with Jess P.

RantyMcRanterton · 11/07/2024 09:03

People, the poster Christinapple is a known one subject poster who seeks to centre men at all times. I would recommend not engaging, just ignore.

The sentence is an insult, pathetic. Not appealable as it was from mag court not a higher one.

The idiot wants to appeal, and it's being heard in crown court in Sept. Could the sentence be increased?
Surely he could not win his appeal?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 11/07/2024 09:28

That sentence really is concerning.

Blackcats7 · 11/07/2024 09:49

The scum convicted of plotting to kidnap, rape and murder Holly Willoughby had two previous convictions. The first one for attempted kidnap of a woman from a train when he used an imitation gun and had handcuffs with him. He got a suspended sentence. The second where he kidnapped two 16 year old girls at work and tied them up but one managed to get away and call for help. He got 18 months for that.
What the hell???
These men aren’t even hiding their intentions.

Over 40 years ago my late father told me to never get out of the car if I was stopped by the police and I was on my own. What a long way we've come!

I will never stop now for anyone claiming to be police and I will be telling my DD to do the same. Absolutely vile stories on here and your father had the right idea.

Sir Starmer's prisons won't empty themselves.

Did you read the article?

He was sentenced in June, before the election. Even the most fervent critics of the Labour government can't blame him for this.

I feel the same way. You can’t tell your daughters to find a policeman to feel safe any more can you 😩 I’ve got two little girls and each case like this just fills me with dread for their futures.

That's a good point. I'll picture such posters as faux police officers trying to pull women over.

Years ago my sister was driving my mum late at night. She wasn't on the motorway but was on some sort of fast road with a hard shoulder. She pulled over for some reason I can't remember and another car pulled up behind her. A man got out with a torch and walked over to her window. She wound it down a crack and asked him what he wanted. She had a bad feeling about him and he shone the torch inside her car. As soon as he saw Mum his manner seemed to change and he said that she shouldn't pull up and park in that place, as if he was somebody official, then he went back to his own car and drove away.

Thank god he didn't have lights and a police uniform. Thank God also that mum was in the car.

BBC News - Gavin Plumb could have been stopped sooner, says survivor
www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4ngd4e7dmpo

This highlights the danger of suspended sentences for these types of offences

Just read that link.
What could have been going through the minds of the people 'sentencing' him.
'Ahh, what's he like?'
