Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Another infuriating "sports ban" article from the BBC

Darts player Samantha Lewis "has been questioning her future within the game".

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c10l58zd059o

Nobody should be subject to abuse or discrimination. But equally, nobody has actually been "banned" or "excluded".

Thank you to England darts for clearly stating that "including 'non-birth-gender females' in women's competitions could 'ultimately result in the demise of our women’s sport'."

What's stopping him competing against other men?

Because nothing other than total validation as a ‘real woman’ matters

Oh and plus he wouldn’t win anything against men

duc748 · 03/07/2024 12:33

It was just a light-hearted reference to KS's regular use of "divisive", "toxic", etc, @Peskysquirrel .

This seriously worries me.

There was a FWR thread about it here if people want to read more:

He wouldn’t win and he wouldn’t get to intimidate women

Edited

True and that would make him ever so sad.

What advantages does a male have over a female in darts?

A male has the advantage of not having menstruation, childbirth or menopause to deal with for starters.

'' Her message to people who have contributed to her current struggles is a plea for empathy and respect.
"Just keep your opinions to yourself. I’m still human at the end of the day. Think before you speak," she said.
"I don't want to quit. I want to carry on." ''

Obvs the empathy and respect only runs one way, what a surprise. Not.

🙄

"I don't want to quit harming women, I want to carry on, and I dont want you to say things that get in the way of me getting what I want"

No, I am not 'empathising' with that, and I absolutely do not respect it either. Fgs.

Peskysquirrel · 03/07/2024 14:12

The BBC has provided a big close-up photo of some of the awards Ms Lewis has picked up. Or, if you prefer, the awards that women were denied. 🎯

As Jim Bowen would say: "Let's have a look at what you could've won! Never mind, ladies..."

"Just keep your opinions to yourself. I’m still human at the end of the day. Think before you speak," she said.

Oh dear.... so female people are not supposed to defend their sports category, the male people "I don't want to quit. I want to carry on." because "Mentally, my mum has been really worried about me because I've gone down that slippery slope again. I wanted to end it all. I know it’s just a game, but it's something that I love doing,".

Really, Operation: Let them speak does highlight the male entitlement. This one seems to have also used the extreme emotionally manipulative tactic of using suicide as leverage to get their demands met.

No empathy what so ever for the female players who might also 'don't want to quit' and who 'love doing' darts but lose their places on teams because male people have been included though. Plus ca change...

Peskysquirrel · 03/07/2024 15:01

Just adding this here to remind people of the no-bullshit approach taken by some female darts players. She's also faced a load of abuse and harassment for her decision. But is not afraid to tell it like it is!

Easy access to the dartboard down the local pub! 😬

TrainedByCats · 04/07/2024 19:52

I just realised I didn’t get an email acknowledgment of my BBC complaint and haven’t had a response. Whilst they never give a decent response this is a new low.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 04/07/2024 20:08

Whether intentional or not, their "derisive issue" line is going to live rent-free in my head to chortle at whenever I want a laugh.

People asking about advantages, have you ever played darts? Height and strength esp. wrist are useful. Please read the pool/Lynn pinches threads for the social advantages men have.
