I'd say there were plenty of other failings to note from the SNP, such as infrastructure, schools, health, etc.

But there is no doubt that their dogged insistence that Isla Bryson is a woman has contributed to their downfall.

'The louder and more stridently the Scottish Government’s transactivist lobby has shouted about “trans rights”, the more public support for them has nosedived. “Gender recognition” used to be supported by a margin of 40 points, now it’s opposed by a margin of 30, and nobody wants transwomen anywhere near women’s spaces.'

Stupid To The Grave

I was going to write this article yesterday, but 2024’s miserable damp squib of a summer unexpectedly delivered a beautiful day – a perfect 20C of unbroken sunshine with a refreshing sl…

I agree unfortunately NCGrandParent
so many places where you could get a potato elected for the SNP 😩

Just last week I listened to raving about how they had to vote SNP because the evil Tories were responsible for all the terrible -long list of devolved areas 🤦🏻‍♀️
and had someone tell me they campaign for the SNP I explained all my objections to the SNP & she agreed with all of them except she wants "independence" so will continue to work for them regardless 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm not in Scotland so please excuse my ignorance but can't people vote for Alba for independence as well? Or are they a worse option than the SNP?

DuesToTheDirt · 01/07/2024 22:49

@BloodyHellKenAgain Alba are a much smaller party and only have 19 candidates in the election; there are 57 Scottish seats up for grabs. Alba are also relatively new, only formed in 2021, and don't have the support base of the SNP or Labour. They'd certainly be an option for me if they were standing in my constituency.

Well firstly there isn't a majority for independence. And secondly Alba is a worse option than the SNP. Neil Hanvey isn't too bad but Salmond? And Ash Regan is bonkers.

They could, the person I was talking too wouldn't because Salmond & besides the SNP are great except for every policy they have 🤷‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I certainly can't agree with this. For a start she has stood up for women's rights mutiple times.

I can’t agree either . She would have been a better leader than Humza but her support for women’s rights wasn’t popular with certain people ..

Okay, thank you for explaining 🙂

Her support for the introduction of the Nordic Model, which light years ago, was discussed at an SNP conference was admirable.

The independence thermometer and the de facto referendum were risible.

I don't see that a couple of flopped ideas add up to 'bonkers'. Regan has an enormous amount of bravery and integrity, rare in politics.

I agree. She is an excellent speaker and brave enough to stand up for what she believes in.
