Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

The Guardian has a request for female voters to tell them what issues will decide their vote

Not sure if it’s worth responding as God knows what they will choose to print, but perhaps worth 5 mins.

I was thinking of the other thread about the Rest is Politics and how gender critical views are seen as a side issue, rather than a majority issue…

Thanks, done. They probably will have to shield their eyes from the literal violence I just wrote

eurochick · 27/06/2024 15:59

I've sent in some comments.

biddyboo · 27/06/2024 16:12

Thanks you, I've submitted a response.

ArabellaScott · 27/06/2024 16:14

Cheers, OP.

WookeyHole · 27/06/2024 16:23

Thanks, completed.

MiriamMay · 27/06/2024 16:31

I have also submitted a response. I’ll be very surprised if they publish it though. They’ll only publish those that support their agenda.

allnewfor2024 · 27/06/2024 16:37

Done. I wonder if there’ll be a flicker of recognition on the subject

TheSh0ppingForecast · 27/06/2024 17:40

I typed a detailed reply but deleted it. I'm put off by the fact that they need my email address.

RockaLock · 27/06/2024 17:59

Done! Thanks, OP, for the heads-up.

Echobelly · 27/06/2024 18:19

Thanks, I have commented on how deeply sinister I find it to make less than 1% of the population into an electoral issue.

MotherOfCatBoy · 27/06/2024 18:21

I’ll do it tomorrow when I can put some thought into it. It’s a bit odd because I don’t think they’ll publish but if they do, I want it to be logical and persuasive, so it needs thinking about!

Me too. I was very truthful but am uncomfortable giving a hostile organisation my contact details.

Redshoeblueshoe · 27/06/2024 18:57

Echobelly - so every woman and girl adds up to 1% really ?

LPoolWoman · 27/06/2024 19:00

I sent a comment, and the link to the BBC story about the Labour Council who shouted me down when I asked for women to be consulted when they proposed a motion for all council toilets to be changed to "gender neutral."

Unlikely I'll hear back, I'm sure.

BeechLeaves · 27/06/2024 19:02

Done

Done. Thanks

jomartin281271 · 28/06/2024 00:01

Just sent it. Thanks for the heads up.

AstonScrapingsNameChange · 28/06/2024 10:11

have shared that I'm voting on the issue of women's spaces. I've never voted Tory before and don't like many of their policies but our seat will be a toss up between Tory/Lib dem so we are voting for an opposition MP in any case.

The thought of a Labour government with a Lib Dem opposition fills me with horror. We need some plurality of thought in there.

Swashbuckled · 28/06/2024 10:33

Thanks; I've submitted.

PepeParapluie · 28/06/2024 10:46

Thanks OP, I’ve responded.

Yes, I will speculate that they'll say something like, "5,000 respondents said that helping transw get into the Ladies is a high priority!" Whilst ignoring the 30,000 saying the exact opposite.

RandySavage · 28/06/2024 12:55

I replied, saying that I was a lifelong Labour voter and was not voting for them again after our local candidate assured that he understood women and gender ID issues.
I got a reply asking if I’d have a 10 minute chat for the article, but unfortunately I was working all evening so had to decline.

At least they were interested enough to ask for more though.
