BBC FINALLY reports on a feminist win

Roz Adams' case against the Edinburgh Rape Crisis centre has been reported by the BBC when many other similar employment tribunal cases were ignored. This one's been downgraded to the Scotland page, but mumsnet users might want to click on it to send it up the rankings and prove to the BBC that this is of interest to their readers. That means there's no excuse for not covering these. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1ee39wn30xo

Rape centre worker wins tribunal over gender-critical beliefs

A tribunal found Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre had unfairly constructively dismissed Roz Adams.

Good for Roz. That Wadhwa is a disgrace and has no business being anywhere near a rape crisis centre, never mind running one.
Imagine thinking raped women shouldn't be allowed to specify a female councillor.
And imagine harassing a woman who raised concerns about that.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 20/05/2024 14:44

This is good news - in more than one respect!

RhannionKPSS · 20/05/2024 14:58

He is a vile, misogynistic, cruel, lying piece of shit, and should be sacked from ERRC along with all the others who enabled & endorsed him, including Maggie Chapman and Sandy Brindley.

Wewereonnabreak · 20/05/2024 14:58

That’s great. Both the result, and the fact the BBC actually reported it.

Next stop - The Guardian front page?

Too far?

The Guardian has moved quite a bit recently. They had a great comment piece on the Tavistock case by one of the former psychologists there when Cass came out.

Also, imagine the BBC thinking they could bury the news by hiding it away on the Scotland pages 😂

PaleBlueMoonlight · 20/05/2024 15:04

That is a really fair article. I am surprised!

Boiledbeetle · 20/05/2024 15:14

I wonder how scrunched up some of the dissenting staffs faces are at the BBC right now!

Just heard this being reported on the news on BBC radio 6 music.

Krazoom · 20/05/2024 15:22

Great that they're reporting on it but wondering if some readers will even understand what gender critical means given the lack of reporting up to now.

arethereanyleftatall · 20/05/2024 15:23

It is BEYOND CRUEL to have the head of a rape centre as a fucking man. Those poor poor women. Well done to Roz.

Codlingmoths · 20/05/2024 15:26

Someone at the bbc has taken a big thick marker and ticked the box for IMPARTIALITY: EVIDENCE on gender criticism, so hard it’s scored the paper, and filed it for 2024. Done. Now they can ignore it for the rest of the year.

girlpancake · 20/05/2024 15:47

Replying to Codling Moths (didn't hit quote): That's a depressing thought. But alternatively, someone at the BBC has just stood up and shouted "Transwomen are men!" and no-one has the nerve to fire her.

It is a weird phrase to be fair. Not sure what I would pick. Reality-based feminist? Anti-stereotype?

Have posted the bbc link on my fb. So many people I know live in their own bubble and are barely aware of the trans issue.

More sunlight!!

SinnerBoy · 20/05/2024 16:05

The BBC and the Guardian? Is it a harbinger of the Apocalypse, do you think?

That's a really good idea, thanks Blackcats7

Important to say it’s a women’s rights issue. Not trans. The people we are concerned about (well, mostly), are predatory men. And the actions of Labour will enable them further. There are obv many other issues - sports etc, but to keep it on track.

Otherwise there still remains a risk that some will say ‘trans issue’? Not a problem. Live and live. I’m kind! Because they’ve not thought about potential implications.

An example that might help is asking if they’d be ok with young children sharing changing rooms with predatory men now ‘legitimately’ known as women? Extreme? It wouldn’t be.

Blimey, the Guardian piece is ok as well.

Is Perfectly Normal Sized OJ all right? Thoughts and prayers.
